All RA owners, I need your help!

Does your RA make a "whisling" type of wind noise on the passenger side at speeds 40 MPH and higher? The dealer is trying to tell me it is normal and I know for a fact that before the body work it was not making this noise. Thanks!

It happen to me last winter after I locked my keys inside. I had to call the road service to unlock the car. After that there also was a sound like that. The reason was because the that unlock my car had to bent out a little the door pillar. So I had to do the same in the other way.

Hope you understand what I mean.

Im pretty sure it was your RA that was down here at my work today (Schaller Mitsubishi) and it is normal at those speeds (60mph+). I took your dealer for a ride in my RA and another customers RA and there was the same noise in both our cars. Also my service directors Evo 9 also made alot of wind noise at speeds above 60mph. Nice car by the way.

My 06 Ra has the same sound, but it sounds like its comming from the driverside. I thought it might be comming from my gauge pod

Okay, the issue was masking tape that was wedged between the edge of the window/glass and the molding. I found this in less than 20 mins. Progressive has had the car a week now trying to figure this out. And Schaler (sp) Mitsu in New Britian CT doesn't know their *** from their elbow....neither does Progressive for that fact. Schaler was trying to tell me/Progressive that it is the design of the mirror and is normal. Oh, and to add insult to injury, my car came back with tons of swirl marks, dirty interior, no gas and a new (and only) door ding. No one gives two $hits or has any respect for others peoples things.

Maybe it is because I, unfortunately, have too much common sense up there, so please bear with me because I don't understand. You drive a car to listen for a described "wind noise", with three people mind you, and you cannot hear a loud whistling? I mean loud like a window is cracked open? Okay, so your (and I'm not blaming you personally, just collectively because you had a body shop tech with you too) rational thinking is this:

"Hey we're listening for a "wind noise", so let's try and listen over this obnoxiously loud and obtrusive whistling that is coming from the exact door the customer is complaining about and see if we can hear and diagnose a "wind" noise?” LOL Now that is too funny.

BTW, it was the meatheads from Progressive in Newington that sent it your way, not me. And if I'm sounding a bit harsh, let me give you a reader digest of my $hitty experience from all of you. Yes, all of you, because you had my car and it is experiences with crappy, I don’t care service and “it’s operating within operating specifications” that drive all us consumers slap happy crazy. So…:

1. Small dent in fender and hood from some yahoo in a parking lot, so I do what any respectable person would do, file a claim with my insurance to get my car back to new. This was November 12th
2. So off to Progressive’s wonderful Newington Service Center, my first mistake
3. They then send it off to Meriden to some cut rate body shop
4. I get my car back with a different color fender and stripes up and down the hood
5. They ship it back off to the same *** body shop in Meriden
6. I get it back, this time the door molding was not put back on, there is now a dent in the door jamb and dirt all in the clear coat…oh and my beloved whistling noise is here
7. Progressive, in an attempt to save a trip to the body shop, tries to use two screws in lieu of the plastic clips to put the molding back on (look at the weather-strip in front of the rear view mirror, you’ll see what I’m talking about)
8. Screw falls out leaving a nice hole in the plastic part of the mirror
9. Back to the Meriden body shop for the new molding, fix the whistling, install a new mirror and to sand the dirt from the clear coat out
10. Get the car back, Progressive claims the whistling is gone, road tested it themselves. I drive off, the whistling is still there
11. Back to Progressive, they can definitely here the whistling, not normal, yada yada yada, they don’t understand, it was not there when they test drove it earlier yada yada
12. Off to a different body shop to fix the whistling
13. Off to Mitsubishi to fix the whistling
14. That is when I get some bum diagnostic that the wind noise is normal
15. Because of your wonderful diagnostic, Progressive now believes the gods have spoke and there is nothing more they can do for me
16. A month later, my car now has 400 more miles, an empty tank of gas, swirl marks galore and a new door ding
17. So I go home, and in ten minutes, find the masking tape wedged between the glass and molding, most likely from the body shop when they painted, and the whistling is gone. But I do still have that “wind noise” LOL!!!

And you wonder why people have high blood pressure and gray hair.

Thanks, and I'm sorry, Im not bashing you personally, but I've had a rough month with my RA.
Forums are for ranting you know.

I'm sure you take pride in your ride too. And if it came back messed up and not right, you'd be just as upset. I had Progressive laughing in my face, literary, because I was griping at the new swirl marks all over my freshly painted hood, a new door ding and the unrepaired whistling. They basically walked away from me. And I have been with them over 10 years. As of tomorrow, I'm going insurance shopping.
