I think dealerships consider batteries a "maintence" part. Any type of maintence part is not covered under warranty.

Yup, batteries are most likely only covered for the first 12k miles. As for a mini-battery, they're a bit expensive, but can be worth it if you're really into saving weight and/or freeing up a bit of space in the engine compartment. You'll have to find a mounting bracket that'll work, though. In the next month or so I'm going to visit a local shop that fabricates these, and let him check to see whether or not his Evo bracket will fit. When I find out I can post up about it if you'd like.

I'd like! This is the only thing holding me back from buying one... Keep us updated.

Will do. I've seen two different styles of mini-battery mounts on Evos. One of the styles definitely won't work, but the other looks like it might, and that's the one I'm going to try. Not that it matters for you, but even if this mount fits, it will definitely not fit with the stock intake.

That said, if neither of the Evo mounts fit, this guy is a fabricator, and if there's interest, I could ask him to see if he could make one that'd go in the stock battery location on the Ralliart.

If you are after a new batt - consider an Optima sealed deep cycle gel cell
Not only do they crank really well and last a long time/take abuse but being sealed they can't leak out any batt acid. They are great offroad so I don't see why they wouldn't kick *** on the street

The Optima Yellow top right? This is my second choice. Thing is, I was hoping to lose a little weight in the front with a 14lb battery, I believe the Optima's are around 35lbs.

Optima's are definately the best battery's on the market IMO. I had a yellow top in my ZX3 and it work great. I will be switching to one once my factory battery dies out.

The Evo mount won't fit. They have a couple threaded studs near the transmission mount that we don't have, and the shape of the sheet metal is different there. We're going to revisit the idea in the next few months, when I'm able to get my car out there, to see what it would take to make a mount specifically for the Ralliart and Lancers.

Looks good, but I'm more looking at something that looks like it belongs there, and will let me completely eliminate the stock battery tray.

Also, I hope you're incorrect about the 18 CCA. The Odessey battery that most use for this conversion has 680 CCA.

yah otter, iam just testing it to see how long it lasts and what not, i was not even sure if it was going to work, but all is well so far. starts right up even when it's cold.

it's 13lbs compared to 34lbs stock, so for 30$.......I had to try it. I'm going to make a custom tray for it, but i did not want to get rid of everything just in case i needed to put my old battery in, so thats why it looks the way it does right now.

hey it's gets the job done though haha
