Bumper Problem (accolade)

So I went to test fit my new evo 8 style bumper tonight only to find out that the crash bar is in the way of the fog light spaces in the bumper making it not fit unless I chop into the plastic. Is this the way the bumpers are supposed to be shipped? Anyone who has this bumper, what did you do about this?

Alright, I just never read anything about having to do that.

Anyone ever modified the bumper? I'm planning on just doing it that way.

My body shop did it. they modified the front bumper by cutting the stock front bumper and the aftermarket bumper in half. they took the top of the stock bumper and fiber glassed to the bottom of after market bumper. in the end the front bumper was slightly crooked. it cost alot of money and a lot of time to do it. I would never spend the money to do it agin. i would advise not to do what i did. your best bet is to remove the crash bar or modifiy the crash bar.

I just removed the re-bar for my 8 FB. Now i have to take my car to a body shop to get it fixed since it got hit. Hopefully they can repair it back to normal again. Would they Reapply the fiberglass if anyone knows? No major damage just some cracks here and there.

You could probably fix it your self the weather is warming up so the resin will set ok just make sure that you use a slightly bit more catylist... basiclly take the bar off the car - sand back slightly to remove loose glass and paint - then from the underside add some small pieces of glass over the area so that it gives strength - then with the front you are better off using a body filler or gel coat to fill in the small cracks - then sand back starting with a 80 gritt to remove the heavy stuff then 400gritt then 600 gritt - wet and dry is best and take your time - then take the bar to a spray painters and they will finish off what you have done if they need to and then paint
