Value of the RA

So ive been seriously thinking of getting the evo X when it comes out. my insurance is lower and i make more then i did when i got the RA which is why i dont drive an evo now.

Today a buddy of mine said hes thinking about ditching his jetta for a lancer and asked me if i'd sell mine. I said id think about it and was wondering what people on here may think its worth to someone who is a car enthusiast and wants all the mods and would even be paying extra to get my car b/c it has them.

blue book for a private sale is 13K US, and ive dumped between 10-15 into the car without doing the math.

Honestly I would hang onto your car I don't think the new evo or new lancer is going to be as good as you may think as the chassis is going to be larger than what it's current shape is...

as for the value of your car the mods don't usually add value to your car they just make it more apealing for the next car enthusist at a guess if the blue says $13k then I would think that you could probably ask about $15k - $16k

If your friend is stupid, sell it to him for $20k. If he's smart, he's not going to pay a dime over bluebook, and probably quite a bit less ($10k?) due to the car's modded history. Mods, if anything, deteriorate the value of a car.

hes a moron and not a good friend just a kid i graduated with who lives in my area. and i was thinking 18-20 if i find someone. not sure i want to sell it but just curious. my other thought is to dig up a imported evo 6 or something like that. always thought having a true jdm that was never sold in america is so sweet.

Good luck selling your RA for 18-20k....no matter what you have put into the car. If someone shops around they can get a used Evo for that.

You do realize the Evo X may very well be a $40k car, right?
As far as importing an Evo 6 or 7.....even more expensive. I have a friend with a Euro spec 7.....and it wasn't cheap to get it here. Cost of the car, shipping here, plus getting it passed by customs (2.5% duty), the DMV with an American registration.....lots of red tape to cut through when importing a car to the US that was not originally available here. This should give you some insight: http://www.importexporthelp.com/importing-cars.htm
Customs has warehouses full of cars that have sat for a long time because they will not allow them in the country, or they do not have the correct forms.

if i did an evo 6 ive been looking around and dug up a few shops that already have them and other true imports here in the US. I dont want an evo 8 or 9 at all, and im starting to think of waiting longer and seeing if their will be a new RA and what thats going to offer. I dont think i will do that much to my next car as far as modding so i want to get something that i could do intake exhaust maybe a reflash and be quick. after this car i dont want to buy anything that isnt turbo, and stock under 250hp. probably will be AWD and has to be 4dr.

The more i think about it the more ive been leaning away from a evo 6/7 only bc its a daily driver and if something goes on that it'll be hard to get parts and alot of down time.

"if" a new Ralliart comes? From what I hear....it's a certainty. Probably out after the X, as to not take away from initial X sales.

first: if you can sell your RA for 20k, go for it.

second: you shouldnt get an evo X the first year it comes out, its a whole new setup and im sure it will have many many problems. if you do go that route wait about a year or two for them to work the kinks out.

third: evo 6 and 7s are nice but ive already done the research and it is very expensive and a hassle to get it over here and to tag n register the thing. now if you have connections to get an evo 6 over no problem then go for that. i would rather have a jdm evo than the evo X.

you could just wait for the new RA.
good luck with whatever you decide.

^^ive found people who have american registered evo 6/7 that are selling them. wont be a hassle since they did the leg work of getting it into the US.

and the RA ive heard it will happen but until i see pictures of it with somone testdriving it and stuff im not banking on it. 3years from now is still after the evo X. who knows when it will actually be here. and if sales from the other lancers and evo do well they may not release one as to not disrupt a good sale streak that needs in a bad way.

I read a few months ago in the first magazine that i seen introduce the Evo X, also had mentioned the plans for the new RA which jumps to 220-240hp, and AWD, but that magazine was the only time i had ever seen that, all i remeber is the cover story was Evo X vs the new Skyline...in which supprisingly the voted the EVO X

Many of us, including myself, have heard confirmation of the new Ralliart directly from Mitsubishi. They're keeping it quiet so they don't take away from the Evo's heavy promoting.
