Sludge??
I just got off the phone with the service department in reference to a letter they sent me about my 22,500 mile maintenance. They said it was preventative sludge removal maintenance to be done every 7500 miles. Anyone have this regularly done? Are Ralliart engines plagued with sludge buildup? I just run the dealer Mobil 5w20 but I am thinking of switching to synthetic if our engines develop sludge. If this is a bogus attempt for the dealer to make more money let me know. Any help appreciated on if I should go ahead with the service or not. It is $65 for the sludge removal and a synthetic oil change.
If you change your oil every 2500-3000 miles and your compression is good you should have little or no sludge in your oil system. Sounds like another way they are trying to earn money.
^ is right. They're just trying to take your money. Keep up on your oil changes and you'll never have sludge. Helps to use a better quality oil, too. For me, mobil 1 syn changed every 5,000 miles and not a single spec of sludge in the oil pan or under the valve cover.

Thats what I thought. I am religious about changing my oil and I think I am going to go synthetic next time. I have not seen the slightest sign of sludge anywhere so I think I am okay. Thanks for the help.
