Need help with choice of next mod please

Well Monday the car goes in for a check up, its a 2006 ralliart, i want to do one of two things.

1. Install header and downpipe or

2. Install new lightweight pulley and high flow cat (have magnaflow cat back)

Only thing that bugs me about the header combo is there is a slight chance that it will throw the CEL, plus the car only has 12000 klm on it so not sure i want to play or risk playing with warranty issues. Can someone tell me the pro's and cons of these two mod combo's? thanks very much (oh its a manual)

Other mods, only AEM SRI, and Magnaflow cat-back exhaust.

Firstly, any modification is pretty much going to avoid warranty, and with the car being a Mitsubishi, well, Mitsubishi will always find a way to void your warranty. Also, more than likely you will throw a CEL since more air is flowing through the exhaust.

If you have a SRI and CBE, imo you should install the Header & Downpipe next. . The pro of this is, since you have your SRI and CBE, there is restriction between the header through to the Cat as I'm guessing the exhaust is larger than stock. To free this restriction, you're going to need to add the H/D combo to allow some mid-top end power.

Putting a UDP will free up hp as its much lighter, and the HFC is good as well, but you won't see much gains there assuming you're your after power.

IMO, it really should be SRI/Pulley > Header/Downpipe > CBE+HFC

i think the pulley and HFC would be good safe mods. the pulley will give you more torque on the bottom end and the HFC will help your CBE flow better. my 2 cents

+1 ^ Pully isn't just lighter its smaller hence "underdrive". Guarantied 7 hp. Going with the highflow cat will free up a little exhaust as well and keep you street legal.

header downpipe might give you a little hp but most people dont like the way it makes your car sound and it isn't street legal.

if you dont care about being legal then you could get RRMs test pipe and just free the exhaust up completely, just keep the stock cat for emissions. just a thought

i wouldnt do a header without some kind of piggy in place. do the pulley first. if you plan on doing the header/do in the future wait on the high flow cat since if i remember right that eliminates where the cat is now and you'd have to weld the high flow into the DP....

i think thats right, i beleive they have to weld the high flow in place or something not sure, the pulley sounds like a nice idea, i drive mostly in the sity so i am looking for pull through the gears at lower rpm so torque i guess, thats what i am after. The dealership here turns a blind eye if they do the install and its not something really radical, i don;t think the mods i have in place currently and then the pulley will creat to many issues with other components would they? thanks for the help guys. oh by the way they want 150 Canadian and 90.00 for the install, is this reasonable?

the price sounds fair and your mods shouldnt have any bad effects on anything else as long as they are installed right.

does the pulley change anything in terms of lights, air, fan motor etc? i read somewhere that at idle or something your head lights will dim, is this so? thanks
