custom exhaust system

im thinking about getting a custom exhaust system done. i was wondering does it really makes a difference what piping size you get and also if you get a catbak or axelback? ive read that our stock piping is pretty good already so is it even worth it to move up to 2.5" piping? i have an auto and not planning on a turbo anytime soon. thanks

first post.

a custom exhaust can get expensive real quick, i have a magnaflow 14829 welded on to the stock piping, saved alot of $$$ and it gives the same effect as an axleback. i wouldn't bother with a catback/bigger piping unless you were going turbo.

thanks, i knew that i wouldnt feel big gains either way, i was leaning towards an axel back anyway but still considering the catback and was just seeing if bigger piping would be a better way to go or not. but i dont think im goin turbo so ill prolly just do an axelback?

yea i do want a nice deep sound, nothing obnoxiously loud or raspy, and also has anyone put header and downpipe with an axelback and would it sound bad? bc i was thinkin of doing those in the future.

Okay.

2.25" - If you're going N.A this is a good size to stick with. Its not too big and not to small either. I personally have it and quite like it.

2.5" - Probably the biggest you want to go with N.A. Though some have this setup, you may lose quite a bit of low-end and gain that mid-top end power. With alot of N.A mods, you'd expect this to be a good setup as air will enter and exit quickly. Some even go turbo with a 2.5" even though a 3" wouldn't hurt as well. So depending on the future of the car, you can choose what setup you'd like.

Don't expect heaps of gains or anything. Magnaflow for a nice deep sound, nothing abnoxious or overly embarassing. Its purrrfect.

CBE w/ Magnaflow with a resonator + HFC=
