Yes to the fluid. There's really no way to flush the trans.

alright,
i have the royal purple in there now,
(is it just me or does tranny oil stink?)

the RP synchromax was actually purple...
looked like thick kool-aid.
but i noticed as soon as i took it for a spin 3quarts later,
that the 3rd gear downshift was much smoother,
but i said great things about M1S when that was fresh in the tranny,
lets see if it stays working nice.

Yes, it does. Most kinds, anyway.

but this time it was worse,
and then the brake cleaner,
i was pretty much high off fumes,
and i smelled like something i cant describe...
its like sulphur.

Synchromax doesnt have a rating but works just fine, I had the same doubt you do. Erased when changed the oil. A little note of help, buy a wrench that can fit the drain plug, since its so damn close to the front suspension, a ratchet and the 20-ish mm will not fit nicely.

Also dont even think about doing it with an impact hammer, as it can strip the drain plug a bit, and if you ever take your mitsu to warranty for tranny, Youll have a bit of explaining to do....that was my personal experience
