04 RA Manual Tranny Question

so since running mobil one synthetic,
people have been saying its not good for our tranny.
when i was told about Royal Purple Synchromax, i went out to look for it.
initially i found The RP 75w 90.
when grabbing the other 3 bottles, i stumbled upon a bottle that
said "synchromax"
but it did not have an SAE rating on it...

I was told this would be best for our tranny in an older thread,
can anyone tell me if there is truth to this or should i just be puting the
RP 75w90 in?

bg sychoshift, gm synchromesh, royal purple synchromesh. The correct oil weight is 75w90, but these other transmission oils carry all the same properties, and them some special ones. They have all been designed around a typical front wheel drive transmission such as ours.

That is pretty much a summary of my research.

It's probably very much like GM Synchromesh, which doesn't have a viscosity rating, either. I've been using it in my RA for 55,000 miles. My trans still shifts great.

Mobil 1 synthetic gear lube is wonderful stuff ...in my truck's rear differential.

In a 's tranny, it's not so wonderful in my experience. It's too slippery for the synchros to function as designed.

Their engine oil is one of the best, and perfectly fine for use in your RA's engine.

The "high-performance" GL-4 tranny oils seem to lack viscosity ratings and also seem to be thinner than stock. However, they work great. As Mysz said, GM's fluid does really well for him, and BG's synthetic fluid has done really well for me.

GL-4 is the type of fluid our transmissions need. RP, GM Synchromesh, and BG Synchroshift are all GL-4 fluids.
