Honestly I smoke in my car and there was about a month when I didnt to see if I could get the smell out and it wasnt that hard. The thing I used to do before my parents knew was park the car in the garage and leave a window open. Couldn't smell a thing but that MAY have been because my mom smokes too. My lancer has been smoked since day one and in 3 days all the smell was gone just by leaving a window down and spraying some febreeze.

Its just like anything else, its how much you do it. If you only smoke once in a while, its probably no big deal. If you smoke twice a day in the car for a year plus expect your car to reek like smoke. Cigarettes do coat things in a thin yellow film. Its horrible for electronics, its horrible for resale and its horrible for non smokers who ride in your car. If you don't care about those things than go ahead, its your car. But even if I did smoke, it wouldn't be in the car, and it wouldn't be in the house because I take care of my ****.

Oh and for all those smokers that say they can't smell anything, its because you're smokers. If you smoke in your car on a regular basis, a lifelong non-smoker will pick it up. Gauranteed.

One more thing. Its my car and my personal space. If I wanna smoke in it I will. IDC what anyone else that gets in my car thinks. Its MY car and not theirs. Dont get me wrong I take GOOD care of my car but it IS just a car.

Febreeze FTW! I didnt even have the car a couple days and had to take the cat to the vet and he peed all over the passenger seat, talk about stink! I was pretty upset, it was my first brand new car and new car smell replaced with that ammonia smell of cat pee. but a bit of scrubbing and Febreeze had it back to new again.

I smoke too, i try my hardest to resist the urge to light up in my car, i have once or twice but i always put all the windows down and open the sun roof in hope that it doesnt leave a smell in the car. so, i usually wait till i get to wherever i'm going to light up!

If you guys want an effective way to remove the smoke smell, pour some vinegar into an open container and leave it in the car, in the sun, with all the windows up, for a day. Vinegar naturally absorbs odors and the smell of vinegar itself disappates quickly, so you won't be left with a vinegar car.

Absolutely, I smoked for a few years and no one ever knew that I had been smoking in my car, or at all. Not my parents, or friends or guests. Keep the windows down, air it out. Also, what really helps is giving it a nice coating of interior armor-all and to vacuum frequently. I honestly do not believe people when they say that a car will always smell like smoke even after it is no longer smoked in. There was period of 9 months during my first year in college where I was smoking 10 cigs a days in that car (thank god i don't do that anymore), and when I went home for christmas or spring break no one asks, and both of my parents and a lot of my friends are non-smokers who hate smoking and would ask.

The point is- if you really air it out, vacuum, wipe the interior, febreze and if you're intense maybe shampoo the seats, no one will ever be able to tell besides burn marks.

most important thing is be aware of your headliner. i already have a couple burnt spots. also the window vents will help alot on the freeway or high speeds and use your ash tray.
