Question about DRL disable

I was reading up on the procedure for disabling DRLs the other day and one step got me thinking...is it really necessary to solder the wire to the low beam pin in the ECU? Couldn't you just leave the wire ''hanging out''/not connected to anything? As I'm typing this, this is sounding like a dumb thing to be asking, but I guess curiosity killed the cat...and possibly a fellow Ralliart owner...

Where did you find the procedure on disabling the DRLs?? Which wire is it??

BTW I was thinking the same thing when I heard some friends talking about how they "maybe" figured out how to disable them.

I don't have DRL's yet I still turn my lights on every time. They're there for a good reason.
