And no, it will not fit, even on aftermarket rims. The sidewall will be way too thick and there's no way it'll clear the rear fender, or the front one on corners or a lowered car. You might be able to make a 225/40/16 tire work on aftermarket 16x7 wheels, but it'd be tight.

I think its still maxed at 215.....I am having 215/40/17s on a 17in, 8J with an offset of +34. I have to roll in the fender, have a negative camber of-1 (which is okay because that is my setting), and the wheel clearance is just millimeters away from the fender and about 8 to 9 millimeters to the rear trailing arm.....

ya, I figure it was something like that. I have to admit, that was a noob question I asked, I should have known that the offset on the wheel wouldn't have change anything here. I spent so much time looking on this forum about wheel and tire size that fit on our car.

Joyrider, are your new tires 225 ?

psh.. i run 225/45/17's with a rear rolled fender and a hammered in wheel liner to get the rubbing to the minimum. However i can only run specific tires for the rear though, right now i have all seasons in back (Falken Ziex) and Federal cheapo summer tires up front which have surprisingly good stick on dry and decent in the rain. The falkens work because they have more of a rolled sidewall-to-groundside transition making it less of a "right angled" so minimal contact. Yes it took me 600$ worth of tires to find the right combo, but hey I now have enough spare tires to last me over 2 years...

I'm rather surpised a 225 works on a 6" wide rim. I would think the sidewall would be pulled in so much that it'd lose stiffness.
