okay heres the deal, i installed my torque damper and tein springs last month. everything seemed to be going fine until recently. it seems everytime i turn the wheel or let off the gas it makes a clicking noise sort of like a can hitting against metal. i drove the car tonight and i could hear it on the front right side of the car. as soon as my friend gets off work im gonna take him for a drive to let him hear it but for now i was wondering if anyone else has had this problem. the only thing i can think of is my mechanic didnt tighten the strut enough but when i checked everything seemed fine. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!

 

If the strut is making the noise, you'd be able to replicate it with the car sitting still. Pop open the hood and bounce on the suspension. I'm guessing, though, that it's the torque damper making the noise.

 

thats what im thinking but when i first put the damper on i didnt hear anything and if im sitting still and turn the wheel it wont make the noise. i dont see where the damper would be hitting anything so im

 

It all moves a little when you turn the wheel, but be checking the lower arms just in case for cracks, as it has happened before to some people just driving around and them breaking.... Its un common bout it can happen to anybody

 

The damper won't make noise with the car sitting still. It'd make noise when the engine moves violently, such as during acceleration.

 

ill be sure to check that when my friend gets off work, unfortunately my floor jack was stolen so i have to wait for him but ill check every corner of this car. thanks guys keep the suggestions coming

 

that makes sense but im not sure what it would be hitting to make that noise. at least i can assume its not my springs or struts(for now).

 

my car makes a clicking noise just one click when i first start movin forward or in reverse or if i downshift sometimes....it doesnt do it all the time but majority of the time it does and i dont have any suspension upgrades the closest thing is rims i havent really had time to check it out tho

 

The damper could be vibrating on itself and making the noise. Which damper is it?

 

on my evo i hear a deep THUNK when i come to a stop... doesnt happen all the time but sometimes... i dunno if its the brakes or calipers. comes from the front of the car

 

i have the zaklee damper. when i drove it tonight it was making the noise every time i pushed and let off the gas so i know its the damper, my friend said give it about a week and if it still does it then he will put some lithium grease on it and see how it runs after that.

 

You need to check your pillow mount studs to see if its long enough to accomodate tower strut and torque damper. The stock and some aftermarket mounts are just not long enough.

I would remove the torque damper and drive it for a week first. Its irritating but that is the way to isolate which of the two is making the sound.

 

i already know that it is the damper but you make good point, the stock studs dont seem to hold down as much with an extra layer of metal under the strut bar. ill try my original plan first and see how that turns out.

I hope you solved this clicking noise issue of yours.

If it's still there, you may want to take a look at a heatshield over a flexpipe in the the exhaust system.

I had a similar issue for the last few weeks where you hear a clicking noise (that seems to come from the lower right side of the vehicle) every time you give it gas and start moving, or letting off the gas. It would occur whether you are going forward or turning, so long as you give it some gas or ease off the gas.

At the end, I concluded it was the heatshield over a flexpipe that was creating this problem. The welds of the heatshield mount that is affixed to the flexpipe was broken off at certain points - which I had noticed before when I did an oil change a couple of months ago (but I didn't do anything about it at the time).

I brought my car to my mechanic since my floorjack was busted so I couldn't fix the problem myself. At first he thought it was my Zaklee damper too. He tried to fix the damper and even removed it, but the sound still existed when he took it out for test drives. I told him again it's the heatshield, but he didn't believe me since the sound did not seem to originate that low in the car (ie. near the bottom of the chasis). Anyway, he fixed the heatshield and the clicks are now gone - peace and quiet again.
