So going over finances ive come to the conclusion that as much as i love my lancer,
i am wondering if its worth the 300 a mth + 160 to insure it.
Now dont get me wrong, if i owned the car flat out and didnt owe anything on it,
this post wont exist. its a blast to drive and has been relatively trouble free...
(damn valve lash...)
last night over a few beers with friends, i realized how much money i am actually spending on this car. and i still have 4 years exactly on my loan left to go.
also seeing my friends get by with 98 vdubs and crotchrockets is kinda... depressing if you will. (his payments less than 100$!!!)
So i debate getting a beater for the winter and a bike for the summer.
i can swing the payements but being 24 living with my parents is monetarily sound,
not quite so socially or psychologically. I plan on moving to the city next summer and i baby my car, I wash and wax this thing at least once a week.
i did a kbb on the car, and if i can get that bumper repainted (its not that bad, but its noticeable) $11,460 @ 50,000.
Id sell all the stock parts with the after market unless there is a real interest in whats on the car.
i dunno, someone shine some advice down on me.
these were taken at 430 after it was rained on,
i just dont have time to wash and wax it before valeting tonight.
it lools dirty, im sorry :-(

this was a half assed attempt at getting a pic of the small imperfections on the hood

Ultimately it's just a car. Also, for what it is, the Lancer is a pretty expensive car to own, if only for the stupidly high insurance rate. If it's easier for you to sell it and find a less expensive used car, and that'll help you out in life, then I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Well I'd say that I would only trade my car for something BETTER in terms of well being and my level of happiness ... I have so much money on it , that honestly is not worth to sell it with all those parts. ANd thank GOD I did all the work I can't imagine people who bought all their stuff from RRM directly might have spent 10K easily.

barely had it for 2 weeks and it looks like someone opened their door several times ON PURPOSE to hit my car because you can see several little dings in a 1 inch diameter. It's not THAT noticable but it's there.
IMO, it comes down to where you are headed with your life. For me, I got my job, my place, finished college, wife and a kid, so I'll take on the payments and the expensive insurance because this is the 2nd car on my dream car list and I plan on keeping it forever if possible.
I was stuck with a PT Cruiser that I just sold because I needed that extra cash for college and such.
So yeah, if you need the extra cash now, do it and be better off. You'll always have time later to get the car you want.

I love this car...
its a joke amongst friends that the car is my GF.
i wash and wax this thing like it was a religious feat.
money wise isnt the only reason,
i plan on moving to philly in the next 11-12 mths so i figure its time to set the ball rolling.
if i move out to philly, i wont have a garage to store it in, so it will be at the mercy of those who surround it.
if i saw that car even dinged at all, ill cry...
this way i know my love will be treated with respect,
and if hellview wants to buy it, i would LOVE to see it stay in the evom family...
the bike in the city just seems more sensible and have a beater winter ride like my golf.
I saw this one Documentary about Philly and it looked like a pretty dangerous place to be in.....er...OH WAIT !, that was the opening credits in 'The Fresh Prince of Belair' TV show...lol
But still, it didn't work out so good for him, as he ended up in Cali afterwards....

In all seriousness, a car is a car and you can buy another when you get your feet planted somewhere again. There's always 'Next Time'
