Cleaning the Rotors and Brakes for Paint

Hey Fellas,

With our rotors, I'm thinking of staying stock simply because of hearing too many things about the ebay ones warping etc. Is it possible to clean them out and spray them zinc silver or anodized silver? Cause I plan to do the brakes red, so might as well do rotors.

Anyone know what I would need to buy in terms of cleaning the rotors and making sure they are cleaned to perfection before spraying on?

Bad idea? Experiences? Thoughts?

Not to derail the topic, but does anybody know how to get enamel paint off of brake pads?

And to the OP, you should definitely use the right stuff, don't skimp on the paint, use the high temperature kind. I wish I had.

painting the rotors is damn near pointless, and if you paint the pad surface you will ruin your pads and probably the rotors too. I doubt even high temp paint will hold up to the heat, you would have to powder coat or some other professional coating, pointless on a normal wear and tear item,

I wouldn't paint the rotors. It won't last, and if you don't get the paint completely even, you risk putting the rotors out of balance. Rotors are always going to rust, it's just the way it is. Even rotors that come zinc coated will wear out over time and start to rust.

Shirobi - Laquer thinner, acetone, or a chemical paint stripper. Be careful not to get it on any of the rubber parts of the caliper.
