But she never autocrossed!
But the theory still applies unfortunately.
Ran in Indy points event #4 yesterday (July 15th) and drove like absolute crap. I overdrove just about every corner of the course in one run or another. Did not have one smooth run all day...and my times showed. They showed I left any speck of talent I might have at home.
Finished an embarrassing 4th out of 8 in class for the day. I am afraid to even look at the indexed time, let alone my in car video.
We only got 4 runs due to starting late and there were 124 people running!
I ran in the last group (about 5 hours after I last walked the course)....so of course I was surprised in a couple spots on my first run and never recovered to get a really smooth run at the course.
My next event is 4 weeks away. I am taking a couple of weeks off. 3 points events to go in the year....and despite the crappy performance yesterday I still hold the points lead for the class. It will be a real challenge to hold on for the rest of the year.....but I will certainly try.....

just gotta take it easy man, you aren't racing anyone but yourself.
depending on how many runs I get, usually 4 or 5, I will run either my first or my first two getting right back into the grid after run 1 afap, and then take a minute or two to reflect before lining back up for the third run. It helps me calm down a bit, as well as get over missing something easy if it happens, while still getting a good feel for the whole course.
I tend to notice ups and downs with my driving as well, so don't worry too much. It does suck to get into your car and feel like a goob, but most people can't drive even as well as that, so don't feel too bad

I just got the index results.....and it seems that I didn't do as badly as I thought. 34th out of 124 on the index.
I would have WON the STX class (which is a step up from STS technically), and 4th in Street Modified Class out of 13 (which is basically the "screw it" class that has all kinds of modded street cars).
So...I guess while I still need to improve, on a bad day I am still decent.

Congrats again, and dont sweat it, if you have fun, it's all that matters, don't sweat trophys and leads and the like... when you focus on that, you are taking concentration away from the fact that you car turn a baddass RA 'round a track. You dont TRY to be the best, do your best and find out you are the best later on...its more meaningful that way

I still have fun with it......but I am just competitive by nature. Been like that all my life growing up playing the "typical" sports.
Thanks for the support fellas. Gotta represent the Mitsu's out there.....especially the RA's. I have only seen 2 others at autocrosses.....and one was Otter.

Well' I'll try to have fun
Don't feel bad, Will. I have an autocross this Sunday, and due to stupid SCCA rules, I'll be running in TSM (basically, an unlimited class, for those who don't know). I can pretty much guarantee a last place finish in my class.
