Just buy a cheap die hard or something. All a battery needs to do is start your car, after that everything draws from your alternator. Optimas are for people who tend to run electronics with their car shut off.

Ive had 2 optima yellowtops in my lifetime of driving, the last one lasted 9 years. I just purchased another one maybe 6 months ago and they are definately worth the money, you will never come out to your car and have it not start. Im trying to decide if i want to take it out of my other car and put it in the ralliart, they are a bit bigger than the stock battery.

I don't know for street cars, but I know them to be excellent batteries for offroad (being sealed is a definite plus for any car as you never have cruddy acidic white powdery stuff etc.) vehicles like Landcruisers when I used to work in mineral exploration. They never seemed to go flat and have as much trouble as the normal type - always seemed to crank more and definitely longer lasting as you never had people running them half dry etc.
