the ralliart blues...
My biggest problem with turboing my lancer is I'm unsure how much life my engine would have after doing so. I'd rather turbo it then do all this N/A stuff to it... but I've been told (and obviously) it cuts the engine life significantly. I really don't want to have to returbo another engine 6 months later.
^ If you "fully" build the engine with forged parts, then you will have no problem with engine life or boosting 20+lbs.
I agree that if you're gonna do a turbo, you should do it right by at least replacing the rods and pistons. Granted, the stock lower end can handle somewhere around 12-14 lbs., but if you're gonna turbo one where the boost can be felt daily, I would only trust a built engine.

well seriously, it depends upon how you treat your ride. You could probably break a stock ralliart pretty easily if you treated it like a race car. I think the thing that you can't forget is that these are our cars that we often are driving them to work.
If your rich, then by all means drive it like a race car. If not, don't forget that these come out of the factory designed for daily driving. If you rebuild the top end and put a turbo on it, the engine probably would be fine if your not treating as though you are trying to climb pikes peak.

Probably a good point. Bumping the rev limiter on a daily basis probably isn't good. Still though, there is being "hard" on an engine and then there is "abuse".
I just really don't want to blow the engine like I did in the RSX. I can't believe the fully stock K20A3 **** the bed at only 50,000kms. It was an auto no less.
every kind of car will give someone problems, and you will have hundreds of people who have had no issues at all. It's all in how you take care of the car.
as far as FI, if you put even 2500 into the car for that purpose is it unreasonable? you have to remember, it's not what you do it's how you treat it. just because it wasn't boosted from the factory doesn't mean it won't last for 200k. if you maintain the engine properly and don't drive it like "you are trying to climb pikes peak" it will run like a daily driver. if you keep it stock but drive it like RAonLSD drives his turbo it will likely **** the bed when his next engine does. plan on doing only as much to the car in repairs as you do to it with the gas, clutch, brake and steering wheel.

....i beat the **** out of my sentra. it started on one turnover everytime. had an oil leak 3 months before i traded it in, i was kinda poor(er) at the time so i couldnt always afford to put oil in it so there would be times i'd drive it 2-3 weeks with nothing showing on the dipstick with no problems. drove it a week with no ball joint(when we replaced them we got the wrong one and it warped the control arm, i was on a windy backroad, hit a 35mph corner at 55, caught salt and slid halfway across the road, heard a pop, checked to see if my wheels were good and drove off thinking i just needed an alignment). hit a telephone poll during an ice storm going downhill with only a minor dent in the fender, took it down a back road i'd never take the RA down at 80 mph jumping it off of every "bump" and "dip"(rises with glorified potholes on the otherside). you name it i did it to this car and never had a single problem from it that cost more than $250 to fix.
in the year that ive owned while treating it just shy of a queen it costs me more than a turbo kit, rims and good tires in repairs.
maybe my cars cursed

could be... or it could be all your past beatings are carrying over
cars can take a lot of beating, though I would bet that whoever got your sentra is feeling the pain you caused.
major issues usually don't present themselves until it's too late to worry. My first car was a 91 Mercury Tracer wagon, and I beat the **** out of it. Ebrake, manual shifting, mud bogging, rallying in the National Forest, the whole nine yards. everything went out at once after about a year or so, I put about 40k on the odo and it was given to me at over 100k already. It was mint when my grandfather handed me the keys too

I bought my Ralliart exactly 3 years ago. I still cant wait everyday to get in and hit the road. I never had that much fun with a car ( owned 2 civics , a precidia and a celica GT4...).
However, Im looking to sell it cause im want to buy a bike and it costs BIG money here in canada to have a motorcycle ( racer type, i.e. cbr, gsx..) .. and i'd like to get a new toy next year, like a RX7, early 90's Supra or even a top clean SkylineGTR around '92.. im a bit bored with front traction, I wanna try something else now.... but im not letting the car go for ridiculous price....im not that desperate (I still owe way too much to the bank.. this is the last time I buy a freaking car with 6% interest on 7 years...ARRGH!! DIE :/ ) ..if I end up keeping it then I'll just drop it with some tein or JiC suspension and add couple horsies till I hit 200 whp and will wait till I can get the EVO X
Btw, this car is still a chick magnet, I get great comments almost every weeks...and still in stock form with only tinted windows and ES tail lights.

I have a '97 mirage de coupe that I used to redline every time i left the light for 2 years straight! Never gave any problems. It's leaking a little from the valve cover, but still starts every time! It's a tough-@$$ little 1.5! I still have it sitting in my driveway.
