cigarette lighter not working.

we were installing a sysem in my ralliart today and i was hooking up the remote to the cig lighter. i wanted to check to make sure it was a power wire first so i hooked a test light to the brown wire that plugs into the lighter. the lights came on and then went off. now nothing works when plugged into my lighter. When my headlights are on the green ring is lit so it cant be the fuse... im lost at what else it could be? anyone have any ideas

It can be a fuse, because it's not the same fuse that give power to the lighter and the green light...

In my opinion, I'll be starting my research from the beginning. The fuse.
After to have check all fuse (dash and engine compartment), check with your test light if you have ground and power in the connector of the cigarette lighter. If yes, the cigarette is died. If no, check why you don't have power or ground.

If you need other information, write me back.

also just a guess but since you were messing around in there make sure that you didn't somehow get that connection loose...just something to look at

actually i have never touched a cigarette in my life. i use it for an ipod fm transmitter. and seeing as that doesnt work it also means the remote for my system wont work. so i will make sure to check all of the fuses (thank you for a real answer Thrice)

I had this problem about 2 months ago, it was just the fuse for me. Its not the fuse box under the hood but the one in the little coin box thingy under the dash. was just a little 15amp fuse for memory. Should be a spare and a neat pair of fuse pulling tweezers on the back of the coin thing

I think I just shorted it out by a some coke or something spilling there

well i popped a new fuse in today and the mp3 player came right on. i still dont understand why they would have the actual outlet and the light on a different circuit. anyway. i know this question should be in audio but im gonna ask here instead of creating a new thread.

Im installing a LOC and splicing it in to the left rear speaker. I dont know if the blue or green wire is the positive one. i tried using the test lights on that but they didnt work either way. someone has had to have done this because i got the advice from this site. please help lol
