Hate 'em. They're for people who've neglected their engines and let crap build up in them.

I run lucas once in a while just got 3000 miles but i don't run a full quart just 1/2 a qt with the oil... Other than that I think my oil changes will suffice.

Yeah, I run em in my old abused junk... usually abused before I got them, but some stuff works pretty good in old junky motors...

the RA gets new fluids every 3750 miles so I don't worry about it...

Thumbs down

^^^I agree with all of the above. It is for older engines that lack of good maintenance. I used on one of my previous ride (88 Mazda) that has a crapy engine.

So what do you guys think of the whole "coating" idea that most of them market?
Instead of using them to quiet old motors do you think it may prolong new ones?

well I usually HATE THEM, cause I think its BS, but last week on SPEED Channel (i think) I see a TV program that talks about Z Max and the guys goes to the Z Max facility and the theory its very very convincing .

I still don't think I want to put that on my car, but maybe some day I'll try it.

What I dont like about the Z max its that it looks like water...

I would think the myth would be if it really helps your car out or not...

just because it looks like water doesn't mean squat, all kinds of chemicals out there have the same consistency of water but would turn you into dust if you drank it

hahahaha!! I just think it can make the OIL thinner or something, hehe

HEY Z MAX even say it will give you "whp" (i dont remember how much) but they tested on a Dyno, and it does gives you more whp, at least thats what they say, hehe

BUT they also say you wont feel any difference till almost 1000 miles of use, you know it needs time to complete the JOB hehe.

I still dont believe that...

ZMAx clearly bought a spot on Speed Channel. It's called marketing guys. I'm sure there is some validity to their claims, but nothing is a substitute for good 100% synthetic oil and regular oil and filter changes.

My suggestion, for longer life and peace of mind go with a quality filter (OEM or better, forget Fram) and go with a 100% synthetic oil like Amsoil or Motul.

we use one called MOA by BG Products that goes in your oil. I'm not one for the tune-up in the can but....there oil additive madeour shop race car run 20 degrees cooler and when we changed the oil after it wasn't all gummy. They also have the fuel induction that really works and a few others.

http://www.bgprod.com/home.html

there is also a video that was taken right from the news on which products were real and produced results. good stuff IMO
