Motor oil

Would running 0w40 or 0w50 work in our cars? Right now im running 5w30 royal purple but from googling oils, experts are recommending 0w40 for better startup and full operating temp protection. Just wanted to see what you guys think. Also i tend to drive my car kinda hard if that makes a difference so my engine does get very hot.

I would only run that weight with a turbo.

I recommend you do the opposite. You want to go with oils that have the smallest spread between cold/hot weights, the oil will last longer. Instead, adjust the kind of oil you use depending on the season. During the summer, I run 10w30, and during the winter I run 5w20. If it's a particularly cold winter, I'll run 0w20. Without a turbo, you have no reason to run anything higher than a 30w oil.

Thats what i thought also. For the winter i use 5w30 and for the summer i run 10w30, both RP. In the summer my oil temp gauge is at 90c-100c with normal and a little speeding. But when im actually punching it, the temp goes as high as 110c. Im just worried it might be too hot for the engine. Does anyone know if these are the normal temp ranges for our cars under normal and spirited driving conditions?

Normal... my temps stay at 95 almost steady the only time I've seen it at 110 was at a track doing laps in the middle of the summer.
