PROBLEMS with the SRS

Hi, for some reason I get into my car, and take apart the silver piece of the dash, were the Airbags lights and the clock are, and it was raining and the stupid car was hot, so I turn on the car, without the Air Bags lights conected, So few days later I realize the SRS light on the cluster was on.

Today I disconect the battery for 1/2 hour and the stupid light its still on.

How do I fix that??

Is it true that the airbags dont work when that light is on??

thanks

yeah, the system detected a malfunction (ie airbag switches and such disconnected)... Only way to reset the SRS light is a trip to the dealer... When I worked at the dealership, a seperate computer reset the SRS, not the standard OBD II code reader/computer

Good luck, did you paint that panel or something? If they suspect you took it apart, they may not warranty it... It will be like 1 hour labor if not, they will scan it, realize the problem will be something like "Low Voltage" or whatever and reset the code... Happens alot with cars that sit at the body shop too long as well with the battery disconnected or shorted out...

^+1, if they find out that you disconnected or messed with any airbag connections then they will def. charge you for labor to reset it.

DAMN!!!

I cant go to the dealer with the CAI, exhaust, and lot of crap that I have on my car!!

And I didnt paint or anything the stupid silver panel, I put a stupid CF paper, that looks really good, and 2 days later with the HOT temperature it was horrible, so I peel it today...

I guess i will continue with my SRS on for a while, or go to a place that works AIR BAG and pay what ever the charge me (a friend says it should be like $50 wich its a pain in the *** just for that light...)

just take it to the dealership, screw their warranty bs. There thieves anyways. If they want a way out of warranty work they'll find it!

hehe I just drive with mine on, of course I have racing seats in but it really doens't bug me. However since you have your stock seats with airbags in place, yeah I'd recommend going to the dealership to get it fixed

yeah your airbags probably wont go off if the lights on! I got a remote starter installed and the light was on after, I drove it for eight months and finally took it in and the dealership just reset the srs computer and it was gone. they did it on waranty... there has been a problem with some lancer srs lights coming on for no reason(well so says a mechanic at mitsubishi)

Take it like that bro, they are not supossed to do anything to your warranty, but they may charge u for it. The only thing u need to do is when the Techs from San Juan are in the particular dealer where u get service, because they tend to inspect cars on the mechanic's bays. Just go to the dealer first and try to talk to the head of the mechanics, state ur situation and most likely hook u up. Try to make friends with him and u have a warranty friend to turn to
