O what fun...

Ok , so after a short drive to the mall, I was parked and idling and then I noticed that the ac wasn't as cold as normal so as I'm tryin to figure that out my hood looks like the lid of a pressure cooker....I turned the car off and popped the hood and the top section of the radiator is cracked wide open.I wasn't beating on the car preivously or anything I'm really puzzled as to what happened...Anyone with some hints guesses etc. would be helpful I don't wanna replace the radiator just to have it happen again.

Well if the top section is cracked open then you can either have to repaired but considering that the top is plastic and the mid section alum. I would get a new one. Did your temp spike? Where was the guage? Also you may of had a blow out from either the thermastat not working properly or even the cap. I can't tell you for sure because i am not there. Hope this helps alittle.....I need pics to give good observation...

Check to see if Evo radiators fit. If they do, you can probably find a cheap used one or go aftermarket.

As for why, my best guess would be a combination of corrosion and manufacturing defect.

definitely looks like you got a bad one out of the batch that the corrosion, like otter said, took its toll on.

Geeze.. I wish I still have AC... I have a leak behind the dash somewhere, and on top of that its mad cold up here. Wanna trade houses for a bit?

Get a Koyo for Evo, a friend has it on his RA, so lightweight and cooler that he only secured it with plastic straps....it has been holding up for its 3 rd year in a row

ok so my fans went out thats why my radiator went...so now i got to get a fan assembly , I think, I have to do a bit of searching I think there is just a resistor or something of the sort that might be the problem , again any helpful insight would be much help I may have to sell something from my car to get the extra $ needed...
