Odd Engine Noise? Need Advice...

I've been trying to find the source of this noise, but I give up.

So whenever I accelerate, I can hear what sounds like fluttering (like pigeons) either in my engine bay or outside my car. It's more pronounced upon take-off. Doesn't really matter if it's floored or just accelerating normally.

I've narrowed it down to two things: It may be my tires. I've had them for nearly 40,000 miles and I know they make a similar noise at highway speeds. New tires are on the way, though so I'll know soon enough if that's the culprit.

But I guess my real question is - this fluttering noise....is this a sound that might be coming out of the engine compartment? And if so, what could it be? Thanks!

Is something loose? Are all your mounts tight? Have you had anyone do any work on the car lately?

i had that once it was an exhaust leak when I got my high flow cat welded in. I had it redone and it was gone.

This happened to me before. It was my manifold gasket between the manifold and the wastegate. Everytime i would rev the motor, sounds like air is escaping out, with this hissing or "fluttering noise" ... Theres a good chance its a manfold gasket, or a worse yet, a leak in one of your pipes somewhere. Most like a gasket tho, thats what it was for me. Real quick easy fix.

if he hasnt done any mods to the manifold, why would the gasket be going bad so fast? ROL: i can understand why you would have a problem b/c youve done major work to your car but on a seemly stock RA that doesnt make sense(at least to me).

Alot of time on the rev limiter could pop a gasket. Power shifting wrong often over a short period of time making your engine over rev. that'll pop a gasket. Manufacture default? **** happens. But im just suggesting that it COULD be a gasket. I dunno im not a mechanic lol, just stating that it happened to me...

I blew my gasket with my infamous traying video

My guess would be exhaust leaking from the flexpipe.

Exhaust leak you would hear even sitting there.......to see if is an exhaust leak just leave the car in neutral and set the parking brake.....open the hood, rev the engine alittle and hold.....listen for any "puffing" noise......It should get louder as more throttle is opened......Now if it only movement that makes the noise.....see for uneven tire wear, or even jack up the front of the car and drive the front wheels on the jack stands. See if it makes the noise......this will narrow it down much farther. It will cover, rotating assembly, transmission, axles, wheel bearings, exhaust, intake, and a few others. If no noise accures then i really can't tell ya until i can hear it.....
