Based on Joho's previous issues, I'm guessing his dealer doesnt.
oh ****,
you gents present some timeless trips down memory lane...
thats right, ray laks mitsu wanted to do my VL cold...
so a good procedure to practice, when you call a dealer for a service,
make sure you know the proper procedure...
call, and ask what the their service entails, and if they dont match up...
(like doing a cold valve lash!!!)
turn tail and run to the next dealer.

for the record, if you are from the buffalo area,
there are only 2 dealers in the area...
because west herr no longer carries the mitsu brand.

otter, im gonna talk to some friends at monro and goodyear,
this thread probably just saved me 200$...
Im shipping you some beer this summer.

This really sucks for me, the closest mitsu dealer is 2 1/2 hours away. My crap town doesn't have one.

otter just said that any mechanic that has experience with your engine is a viable solution to your issue. Shop around and ask some mechanics.
Dont be a little wuss about getting your car fixed, its your investment,
make sure whoever is working on your car knows their crap...
even if you feel like you might be a bit of a dick.

I agree, but it's that much harder to discern the reputable from the crapheads when they don't work at the dealer. not to mention the fact that, and I've seen this happen more than once, if the mechanic ends up ****ing something up he can just say that all his was done correctly and the problem came from something else. it's so much harder for a dealership to get away with that.

I think we'll all agree that you had better make sure they know what they're talking about, triple diamond tech or joe blow from idaho aside.

oh you know joe too!?

bottom line, take it to someone you can trust.
I have a few friends at a goodyear a few towns over from me who have this database for tons of cars information on all sorts of maintainance.
So I am 90% sure I will take it there, because I trust them with my car...
Just wonder what the labor will be there...

I did a DIY timing change on a 4g94 about a year ago, granted, I had my uncle with me who used to teach an auto mechanics class, and trust me, you dont want to go in there trying to do it yourself unless you know EXACTLY what you are doing.

I don't know about up that way, GDS would probably know.

In Mooresville go back to where we dynoed at, Taylors Imports. Keith is a pretty honest guy. If you decide to go up there let me know when. I'll ride up and we can chill while he/they work/s on it. I'd be willing to bet he'd let us watch if I asked him, he owes me a favor right now I'd get my hands dirty with him, but you're not paying me and neither would he I'll bring the tech manual, even if he has any questions the specs are in there{thumbup

It's likely AllData. Any mechanic/shop worth a damn these days should have an alldata.com subscription.
