What can I expect?

Alright so,

Before I get into my questions about the Ralliart model Lancer, Let me give you some background...

I am coming from mostly an American Muscle style engine mindset, some of my previous rides/projects are... 2005 Dodge Ram 5.7L V8 Hemi, 1985 Trans Am, 1997Chevy Camaro...

But I'm looking to downsize the motor for better overall preformance, Currently my favorate choice of cars is the Lancer Evo 8, but in all honesty I dont have the money for one.

So I'm looking into the Lancer Ralliart, I love the engine and preformance of it, but I have yet to drive or work on one, so I'm wondering what kind of power and speed I can expect, the Handling and Weight distribution I understand is awesome.

But I am hopelessly lost when it comes to power, acceleration, 0-60 speed etc.

1. How is the acceleration.
2. How is the top speed.
3. Would it be worth it/semi-easy to install.

I do enjoy working on cars, but like I said, its mostly muscle cars/Big engineblocks etc.

Thanks for any help, and if you could compare it to some of the other import tuners around and even some muscle cars it would be awesome.

Kevin

1. How is the acceleration. - Pretty quick....but its no HEMI
2. How is the top speed. - Quick enough....how fast you plan on going?
3. Would it be worth it/semi-easy to install. - Install what?

Sorry about that, Worth it/semi quick to install a Turbo.

And how fast is "pretty quick" when it comes to acceleration?

dude, you should wait for the 2009 ralliart. That one is turboed and has all wheel drive, where as the 04-06 ralliarts are naturally aspirated and FWD. So you should just save your money and get the 09 ralliart... or a evoX if you save long enough. BUT if you really like the style of the ralliart 04-06, get it, its a fun quick car, and its got some websites with great mods for it. Check out www.roadracemotorsports.com

Actually, it has a hemispherical combustion chamber, so it technically *is* a HEMI. Same with the 4G63 engine.

well a stock RA engine will usually do 0-60 in about 7.5 or 8 seconds, (at least that what i timed mine at when it was stock) our top speed is roughly about 130, at least thats what the spedometer says, ive had it there and it still felt like it still wanted more...and as for your installation question, i dont have a turbo so i wouldnt know how easy it would be to install, but everything else is pretty easy, but its a japanese car so the engine bay is a bit smaller so it moe of a confined area to work on, but over all, minus the fact that its not EVO performance its still a great car

Ok so, out of curiosity what kind of straight line performance could you squeeze out of one with propper modding... (Minus a full on evo engine swap//AWD)

without going AWD, if you mod your engine with turbo and supporting mods, think like a neon srt-4, but without the suck =].

The Ralliart can be made to be a great handling car, but I wouldn't call it much of a straight line performer. As stated above, if you invest in a turbo, you can get into 13's.

However, the car is great fun for handling When well setup, it does quite well in autocrossing, and I also found yesterday that the car loves road courses. I had no issue passing cars with quite a bit more horsepower than me simply because I was able to out handle and out drive them. (before anyone asks, when I get pics I'll make a thread, so keep this on topic)

If you want a fast 4 cylinder just for drag racing, look into a SRT-4 or look for an old DSM (90-98 Eclipse/Laser/Talon) since they're relatively cheap to find and quick. AWD and pretty much the same engine as the Evo (previous gen 4G63.)

1- Good, 7.5s for 0-60
2- 222km/h = 138.75 mph (5th gear at redline) can't go past that if you don't *play* in the tranny
3- Seems pretty easy... RRM's kit is probably the best

One thing tho, if you want to drag race, turbo is good.... but this car has an amazing potential in handling if you want to turn around some tracks. Simply invest in good tires (R compound), suspension mods and invest on the pilot (racing schools and track time).

welcome here BTW

Thanks Joyrider, thats exactly what I was lookin for, I'm not really looking for only a straight line speed car, if I still wanted only that I'd stick with the muscle I'm used to, I'm looking to change up the whole deal, handling (Heh big block V8's that weigh two tons are no fun) and all around fun, which seems to be what the Evo's and Ralliarts are all about.

And apparently you can max em out pretty well with a little time and effort... (and money of course but heh what doesnt cost money)

Thanks everyone!
