Going back to 87 octanes after 2 years and a half
Hey guys,
so I just learned that putting Supreme (91-92 octanes) in my RA '06 is not a good thing. What's done is done, don't flamme me. I would like to go back to 87 octanes after 2 years and a half on Supreme, but I would also like to clean contaminants from left over of the Supreme. I was wondering if it would be useful to buy some additives cleaners at Canadian Tire to clean the injectors and the fuel system. I would empty my actual Supreme tank, fill it up with 87 octanes and put 1 bottle of injectors cleaner and 1 bottle of fuel system cleaner.
I don't wanna mess my RA and I think cleaning it to make sure there are no carbons left over would be nice. Also, I would ride it hard in order to get the carbon out.
What do you think ? Any advices before I attempt this ?

Just run a can of seafoam through a full tank of gas. I doubt you did any damage, though, you just threw away a bunch of money. You certainly wouldn't have harmed anything in the fuel system. Merely has excess exhaust and maybe some extra carbon built up on the exhaust valves/channels.

That's the stuff, but if you're on top of your oil changes, you don't really need to put any in your oil. That's more for people who don't keep on top of their oil or use ****ty oil. Really, the best way to clean deposits/carbon buildup with that stuff is to VERY CAREFULLY pour about 1/4 cup slowly into the PVC line that feeds into the intake manifold while the engine is running. There are instructions on the can for this. Do it outdoors, as your car will smoke like crazy while you do it.

ok I got mixed instructions. This video^ they tell you if it doesnt stall to then kill it. But some videos say to keep the car running while it takes all the seafoam in. Hydrolock is my only concern on this.

This video shows the proper way to do it. Any vacuum line that goes directly into the manifold will work.

Also, if you do this, don't forget to change your oil soon after, about 500 miles later. You don't want to leave this stuff in there.

The video shows the incorrect way to do it. You should NOT stall the car, that means there's too much liquid in it and you're risking hydrolock. The proper way is to stick a funnel in that vacuum tube and slowly pour a bit of seafoam in, bit by bit. If you need to, have a friend gently work the throttle (low rpms only) to keep it from stalling. There's instructions on the can.

The debate on the issue is whether it creates more carbon buildup due to lack of complete combustion on engines that don't require higher octane. I think the risk is minimal, if not non-existant.
