Noise from engine?

Hello everyone, I'm a newbie here on the forum and in cars and I was hoping anyone can tell me what's the problem with my car. When I park my car and turn off the ignition, the engine is not quiet.. It sounds like it's still on. after a couple seconds it stops. I recently installed headers/downpipe and a catback exhaust. Do you think this is causing the noise? I'm getting worried and was planning on bringing it down to Mitsubishi for inspection. What do you guys think?

Open the hood, check to see if the fans are running.
If that's the case, might be the fan controller.... someone remind me what its called exactly..

If the fans are running.....look up fan control unit. It's a common problem that a few of us have had.

It's a little black box with a couple plugs on it that's mounted in the front of the engine bay near the battery.

Yes, I take the keys off the ignition and step out of my car and hear a loud noise coming from the engine.

My car is still under warranty and If I bring it in to Mitsubishi would my modifications void the warranty to fix the fan?

start up the car, drive it around a bit and get the engine nice and warmed up. Pull over, open the hood, listen to the engine. Now go and turn it off, listen again for the sound. Isolate the sound and let us know where its coming from. Chances are its problably the fan controller.. its a horrible unit... especially the 2004's I've gone through 2 of them already.
