Would you mind linking to the DIY that they have over there?

I don't plan on painting my rims any time soon but I'm curious what kind of process goes into it, I assume you sand and primer before layering paint coats?

That index card trick is pretty clever. It's good to see ow that kind of thing is done.

When do you think you'll be doing your rims? Weathers perfect here in CA for it right now.

AWwww it might be better if you took them all out at the same time.. So you can determine which wheel needs more color coat or clear coat to make things 99.9% even! Good luck though! And I can't wait to see them

haha yeah she is cute, but she has a fobby accent, haha. so here's a little update.

basically my first rim was a disaster, haha. I got splatter that killed the look of the paint. i moved onto the next one which was close to a success! i painted the rim with no splatter but once i sprayed the clear coat, like 2 drops fell on it : ( so i continued anyways. I went back to the first rim and resanded and primered it... I used my new knowledge of painting it and the paint came out smoothly and as for the clear coat, just as a precaution, i angled my wheel against the wall so no splatter! now that rim is looking nice! I have 2 more to go and once like 35 more min goes by, imma put the rim back on the car, then i need to move it so I can get access to the other side and this time im going to do both of them at the same time. I hope I have enough primer becuz I dont want to go buy another can... and if i do, i want to make sure I know i need to buy another can before the store closes. overall, i learned so much more about spray painting and I will be glad to write a brief DIY myself becuz there are some things I noticed that are probably more effective then the ways Ive read so far. anyways, i might post up a pic later, we'll see!

and mundo! what color did u want to paint ur rims?

i like the part where she shakes the can.

anyways.. i just thought id say this in case you have no clue. TAKE YOUR TIME! its important. if you get impatient and start doing thick coats right away, you won't be satisfied with it. haha. i had to find that out the hard way. so LIGHT coats. and dont worry about the original color showing through the light coats. just keep doing it and it'll cover it up nicely, and most importantly, NO BLOTCHES.
