exhaust / muffler advice

Ok I'm not very car smart but I have an 04 ralliart with straight headers don't know specs really but recently switched out my muffler for a turbo muffler becuz got 2 tickets in 2 days for modified exhaust. I want something deeper and louder than the turbo muffler but don't want any more tickets. Any suggestions?

damn 2 tickets in 2 days?! What kind of exhaust did you have before you switched? I just ordered the RRM Magnaflow Catback Exhaust and I dont want that to happen to me! I live in TX though, I dont know if the laws are different.

You have straight headers? I'm sorry if I'm misinterpreting this but does that mean you took out your cat? If so then that would probably give them reason to look at you before they see your exhaust due to the noise.

Please dont mistake my post for saying that if you have your cat that you're not going to get pulled over. Just that you're safer because with the cat reduces some of the noise that comes out of the exhaust. Running too loud and you'll still get pulled. Once they see your exhaust they may just write you a modified exhaust ticket if they're not in a forgiving mood.

I'm not exactly sure if the cat was taken out or not. I just know pretty much under the hood is all custom and when I went to reduce the sound that guy said that I have straight headers which is why my car is so loud. I really want to have a different exhaust that isnt the turbo, but im not sure if a flowmaster or something might quiet it. any tips plz

You might want to check and see if you have a cat first... that may probably be the most effective way to get the noise down.

Post up photos of what you have with an undershot of the car if you can.

It sounds to me that you might want to upgrade or downgrade to a magnaflow muffler. However if you're catless its going to be loud no matter what... Our cars are just loud in general, I have the RRM downpipe and the RRM catback exhaust made out of magnaflow parts and it was night and day when I put the downpipe on. Personally if you want a quieter car (note I said QUIETER) and you're catless, throw the cat converter back on. Otherwise you could always get a smaller diameter catback or muffler....
