you mean the former?
but yea, overhauls can be fun if ur doing it just cause and it doesnt really cost you any money, aka, doing it for a friend. lol.. but yea.. if its engine damage, when its all done and done, it would probably be cheaper to just buy a new engine.
in fact, if you live in edmonton and talk to canada_comp, he might sell you his cause it seems thats all that's still good on his car. (HAH!... just picking)

if the valves are stuck open you won't hear that pulse of compression that you normally do, like when doing a compression test. I think it's really hard to strip timing belt teeth though.. those are really shallow teeth, if anything the timing belt would skip a tooth, thats all. but if the belt broke.. then you are in trouble.. depending on the engine.. you may have to replace the pistons in addition to the valves since the piston crashes in to them.

If it's just the head, that's not as big of a deal. Might be a great time to get RRM's P/P head. ;P

But, as Thomar mentioned, that video still sounds like the starter isn't spinning the engine.

the mechanics said that the starter was okay... but they told me over the phone that my engine has seen its end... so i have to get a new engine now... but i'm hoping it is just the head since the crankshaft is still running... i would LOVEEE to get my hands on the P/P head from RRM

NEVER EVERRRRRRRRR remove that bolt!!!!!

if it were a manual i would have suggested push-starting it. make sure the mechanic isn't pulling your leg though and trying to get you to pay for services you don't really need.

Still the fact is that my cam isn't turning and my timing belt is gone... I saw it myself when taking off the protective cover and it doesnt look pretty.... I have to see what kind of internal damage there is

holy crap does this thread remind me of how I got my avatar.

Im really sorry to hear about this man. We all have bad days with mechanical work on cars. Just don't let this stop you from getting your hands dirty and learning what to do on a car. Just... next time you do something, make sure you have someone to check your work.

Heres to hoping its just the head.

UPDATE: So the car is in the shop and I'm having to do an engine rebuild. But the good thing that comes out of this is that I'm replacing my stock head with the RRM P/P Head! =]

Further details in 3 weeks when car is done
