I woke up this morning, looked out my window and saw red marker scribbled all over my hood of my lancer!! I was furious, I mean really really angry. After I calmed down I got the marker off eventually, with lots of scrubbing, but now my hood is totally f**ked up looking! Here's a picture,

theres darker lines all over the parts where the marker was. I fear I scratched some of the clear coat off. I mean its not horrible looking, but its pretty visible in the right lighting. What can I do to fix this? I really don't wanna get the hood repainted...

 

wow, thats terrible.. what did you use to get if off? hopefully it just needs buffed out

 

Try Goo Gone. I use it on all types of stuff, it even gets chewing gum out of carpets.

I used a little bit of clorox cleaning solution safe for kitchen counters and tables, so it totally woudn't eat the paint, and a little window mixed together. The red marker is all gone, but like I said I'm left with this dry looking swirls where the marker was... And I hope I catch the dumb jerks who did this too!

 

maybe a coat of wax will do it

Try waxing/claybaring it...

 

lol, it does. but back on topic, so if I can get the hood waxed, it will bring back an even coat of color?

 

This, claybar it, use some scratch remover, then polish/wax it.

In the future, avoid using household cleaners on your paint, you might think they're safe, but they can etch your clearcoat (which is what just happened to you.)

 

Go carbon hood now! Looks sweet on yellow.

Alright, will do, thanks! and the cleaners where the only things I had, I was in such a blind rage I just wanted to get it out, and fast! Thanks though and I'll never get one of those black hoods! Those mis -colored hoods make it look like I found it in a junk yard or something. It will break up the awesome yellow color I want!
