Key fob dying?
Key fob dying?
So just yesterday my lock/unlock keyfob started acting funny. It locks and activates my security system, but when I press unlock it deactivates the alarm system but the doors don't unlock.
I changed the battery on the fob and it worked like normal for a day and now its acting up again. I've had to leave my car on valet mode so I dont get stuck with the alarm going off for five minutes while I try and shut it off and get into my car using the key itself.
Is my keyfob dying or is there something else going on?

I bet it's an aftermarket keyfob, and when the battery died, it lost the programming to control the car doors. Probably needs to be reprogrammed, which the alarm manufacturer can tell you how to do, and it probably requires the stock keyfob.

really? when i replace my batteries its not affected... but he must have a different system as i have a viper alarm
Ha.. Mitsubishi + valet mode... lmao
Keyfob is probably banged up or something, might want to look into getting a replacement. I had a keyfob on my old taurus with an aftermarket alarm. Accidentally dropped the keys too much and the fob started acting funny.

Its an aftermarket alarm system (and its a POS), and the fob is the stock lancer fob (it has the mitsu logo on the back and all that good stuff).
