my RA has a busted lip =[

coming back from cali, i drove thru what the weather lady called a "monsoon", id say just heavy rain but whatever..anyways, if you ever read my post about my car getting hit by a goose back in the day, i stopped at a gas station along my way back and when i came back out from inside i see that the right side half of my front lip is ripped off. so i just have the left half.(the damn goose won in the long run! damn!) i didnt even hear it come off while driving, but oh well. i did the research and ordered the new front lip, and the t-bolts and nuts this morning, came out to like about $360(mitsubishiparts.com)
thats not bad, the stealership wanted just the front lip for like $416, pffff yea right.
heres a pic. kinda sad but shell be better here in a few days.

lol i was thinking about it, like for a long time. but i honestly have to say i like the look of the stock front lip. some reason the RRM lip just looks a little to big for the front. like someone mentioned before it kinda looks like a beard on our car haha.
i mean i would go that route but i think it would go better with some different sides skirts and maybe a new rear bumper. like k3lv's RA he did his really nice. ima go with the stock look and then im thinking about adding a carbon fiber splitter in the front. its a different route then most go for and it looks hella nice. also adds some functionality too.

^ Can you post shots of the hardware necessary to reattach the lip? I busted my bumper (lip survived) but they ripped off all of the clips when they removed it from my old bumper and now it's sitting in my garage waiting until I can figure out what I need to reattach it.

Well the lip has plastic holsters that , hold T bolts then you attach it to the body and use the nuts to fasten it on .... Now of all of the plastic holsters are broken then you may or my not have a problem. You might be able to glue the T bolts in place or even reverse it ... Glue T nuts on the lip from the inside then attach it using bolts...

Some pictures would be helpful because I have no idea what these things looked like to begin with, but I do see the space where the t-bolts used to be (silhouetted by the old glue).

ok im done with the install, i have part number and pics to post up but ill do that tomorrow when its light out and ill take some after pics. install was pretty easy, it took me about an hour and a half, thats including set up and one occasion of one of my pieces of hardware fell into a drain so i had to fish it out with the mech. fingers and flashlight. but all in all not to bad. a few of the tbolts and nuts were hella hard to get to, like the very last one on the passenger side, omg i didnt think i was going to get that thing on but i got creative and it all worked out. gotta love dog bone wrenches and flex joints. but like i said pics and part numbers tomorrow

here are the pics of the lip and hardware, i included the bags the hardware came in to show the part numbers.

RA front lip - MN154911WA (this part number i found in the OEM part number thread, just know its the part number for the lip that comes in White)
my RA has a busted lip =[-2010-08-12_17-40-31_931.jpg

T-Bolts - MB908442 (there are 16 each of these holding the lip)
my RA has a busted lip =[-2010-08-12_17-40-13_994.jpg

T-Bolt back nut - MS440522 (there are also 16 each of these and they go on the back side of the T-bolts holding the lip to the bumper)
my RA has a busted lip =[-2010-08-12_17-42-05_491.jpg

Self tapping screws - MS241187 (there are only 4 each of these)
my RA has a busted lip =[-2010-08-12_17-42-19_919.jpg

to get to where you need to get to install this lip you will need to remove the black plastic panels from under the car right under the front bumper. i only took off the ones right under the fog lights. they are snap on fasteners and to take them off you just use a small flat head screwdriver to lift up the middle and then it off. you do the reverse to install it back to where it was, just remember to line up all the holes before you do this.
as you can see on the front lip the 16 t-bolts go into the black clips that are
attached to the lip, after sliding all 16 t-bolts in(the clips hold them into place)put the front lip onto the front bumper putting all the t-bolt ends in the provided holes.
then take the T-bolts back nuts and fasten them onto the t-bolts from the inside of the front bumper. i used a 1/4 ratchet, an extension, 10mm socket, and a 1/4 flex joint. some of these are hard to get to. so thats where the flex joint comes in handy. you should be able to get all the nut fasten down except for the last one on the passenger side, its blocked by a reservoir. so i used a 10mm dog bone wrench to get it. was easy after that. make sure you fasten all the back nuts down or there will be gaps in the lip, and it wont be uniform to the bumper on the front side.
you will see where the self tapping screws go in, i shouldnt have to tell you where that is, but you can do this last.

if you have any other questions about this install feel free to ask.
