issue with revs used to hit 6800 before rev limiter but seems to kick in at 5400 now but will sometimes go past after hesitation????everything seems to be fine now heat up no coolant in oil or vice versa. still runs great good pick up still till undesired new rev limiter..have had nothing modded, but it did have new motor install @ 30000kms under warr.previous to myself purchasing. i have replaced 5spd manual tranny and clutch 2mnths ago, but problems did not start till 2days ago...no lights on dash and no codes for comp.

 

does it bounce, or just hesitate? if it's the limiter you'll hear the revs bouncing rapidly...

 

Are you getting engine knock? If the ECU reads knock (due to bad gas, fouled spark plugs, jammed air filter) you might end up damaging your engine. You should get that looked at.

it finally gave me a code of random misfire, i changed plugs and air filter it needed it to. still same prob. rpms have dropped lower over last few days. done to 4000 rpms then it cuts drops about three hundred and then comes back and does it again..its not the same as the rev limiter but close...
reset comp code 200kms in and still no code back yet..check fuel pressure have all kinds can bare hold finger over pump with both hands..dont have proper attachment for this car have screw on for gm rails..
the car runs perfect as long as i dont want to rev above 4000rpms,,,dont know what to do next..been told it could be all kinds of things and the mitsi dealer that just open in town doesn't want to help much...

 

Have you had a chance to check your coil packs? ... after that ...

 

well pulled each wire off the pack, it caused a noticeable miss and revved it to where it was doing it and pulled each wire off again, again a noticeable miss again. light hasn't come back on yet and down to 4000 rpms now before it cuts in and out..

 

freaking crank sensor, just so happened to lean over it the other day after taking all my sensors out and cleaning all of them. put it back together and still had same issue down to 3900rpms.
hit conn on motor just above alternator, and the motor just died, did it 2 more times just to make sure. couldn't pull the sensor itself with out some more disassembly. cleaned connection and waited for it to dry, cleaned sensor with sensor kleen.
would not go at first but after 5 or 6 times of wigling the connection it fired up and no more hesitation in rpms,,
