Angry ticking noise while idling

I'm new to the whole forum thing but thought it may be helpful. when my car (2004 ralliart) is idling, there is a ticking noise coming from the engine. i listened to it real close and it dont sound like its coming from my valves but maybe my intake or below my intake. any ideas on what it could be? thanks...

That's why. The TOB tends to rattle a lot on our cars.

I tend to hear it best when im at a drive thru. When i push in the clutch it goes away. Sounds just like something ticking in the motor.

I have this too! Its so embarrassing when im parked and im outside my car and all i hear is that annoying ticking sound. Fromreading other threads I thought it was my valves, but apparently not. Is there a way to fix the TOB? or just get it replaced?

^^ So in other words, it's pointless to replace?

ticking, or tapping? How about you record the sound and put it up on youtube for everyone else to hear...

That's what I orginally thought as well based on my symptoms and from what I've read on other threads. But I also noticed the sound disappears when I press on the clutch, so that's why I want to agree with what everyone has said above. Either way, I hate that sound.
