On the 2.4L, spark plugs are replaced at the 96'000km service interval.
Havent seen anything yet regarding coil packs. I assume you keep em until one malfunctions.

OK so here something interesting...
Had the car in the dealership today for the service, they done the oil change and also found an inner tie rod, passenger side, to have too much play and replaced that and a strut under warranty. Due to that they had to do an alignment on that wheel. The guy behind the counter called me a few hours in to let me know that during an alignment check the rear wheels were found to be out of alignment and he can align them for some discounted moneys cause i'd only have to pay for the three, rather then all four wheels.
Anyway, I declined, told him to just align the one wheel.

After I picked up the car I had a closer look at the paper work, and on the back is the print out from the wheel alignment machine. I scanned it into a PDF.

Are you thinking what I'm thinking?

i cant pull up the printout but to me that sounds super shady if they told u they aligned only 1 wheel....anywhere ive ever worked or been, if u need an alignment u get a 4 wheel alignment period...theres no reason you should get anything less...

on the other hand the "free" alignment is ussually only setting toe...and thats quick and easy...where when u pay we're supposed to adjust camber and caster...PROVIDED theres no extra parts necesary like a bolt kit or if the bolts are seized up

I've seen stuff like this happen all the time at a dealership I used to work at! As far as all the stuff thats listed for the recommended services, no one does any of that stuff anyways! 78k service would be just an oil change and you would get charged for all the "check this and check that " stuff but no one would do it! and as far as alignments go, I've seen guys put the car on the rack, do the initail measurements then push the front tire to get a better reading and then quickly push save on the program! there is lots of shady shady stuff that goes on a dealerships I would only take my car to one if it were ABSOLUTELY required! Save your money guys!

that seems high, just had my 75000KM done the other day, on top of the normal service i had to have the power steering flushed, fuel injection system cleaned and they also replaced a cracked powersteering hose which was leaking under warranty, and all that came to 512.60AUD
then i also changed my accessories belt myself, $50 belt, labor free ...

Yeah, I was always under the impression that our plugs last the life of the car.
Damn stealerships, why do they always have to try and rape us?

Really though, if you didnt know jack about cars, youd get raked over the coals.

"Yeah, the halogen fluid is low in your headlights, youre gonna need to top em off, thats a 79.99 + labor. Then the magical unicorn that is poking holes in your muffler and crapping in your filters, whew..."

Air filters and Oil changes are very basic stuff, like mind numbingly easy, you gotta take care of stuff like that on your own. Coolant is kinda scary, so I usually let a tech or a friend of mine do it at his shop so I know its done right.

Adjusting a valve lash...
I failed at that :-(

+1 for telling the stealership no thanks.

ive always been told to use ONLY iridium's. as for the coil packs, i usually just get new if they do go bad.

i have e3 plugs and dont have any problems...i believe they were OE when i replaced em around 100k

otter told me it's probably a good idea to take em out and use NGK like it recommends but for now im sticking to my e3's i know they're probably just hype...but hey they work and theyre already in...(not that it's THAT hard to remove/replace them..)

I will change the oil myself next time around...screw it. I'll ask my boss to use his service garage.

Adjusting valve lash is next. I've read the steps in the service manual as well as the tutorial on the forum, and I understand it, seems simple. Hardest part is gonna be for me not to touch something hot.

Actually... The hardest part is not dropping the feeler gauge down an oil passage way.... and if you do.. the hardest part is getting it out... We'll tie it on a string though when we do it. Are you gone all of that week?
