My DIY cold SRI
My DIY cold SRI
This is my cheap cold air SRI. I got the tube from Lowes for $12. It's 6"x8' aluminium hvac duct. It fit perfectly on over my air filter.
With this mod and the TB coolent bypass I felt a nice difference at high rpm.
What do you guys think?

id personally think it makes the air filter not be as effective it looks pretty tight around the air filter, and you really want air to go around it freely...not try to aqueese in around tight spots...it does look like you have one of those double cone filters or w/e they're called..maybe it doesnt interfere at all because of that...if it was me i'd think it needs a smaller filter or larger pipe but if u say it feels better then i guess it doesnt matter...
good job..looks kinda odd but hey if it works im not gonna knock it

The idea is to have a smooth cool air. The ridges in the accordion like hvac line must create a lot of turbulent air. The idea and creative thought is great, but Im certain that function is very limited
Thanks guys for the input. Looks like I will take it off. I bought the car used and the stock funnel wasn't there. I will see if I can find one at the junk yard.

you are taking your filter, and reducing the amount of air it can take in... honesltly having jstu a filter there isnt going to make a difference.. a sri intake isnt going to give you a noticeable difference to begin with. take that crap off and let the filter suck!
Thx for the links. I like that shield but it will not solve my problem. The radiator fan blows the hot air straight into the filter and the car becomes "lazy". I could go with a CAI but I live in a flood zone (South Florida) and I don't want to hydrolock my engine. How do you guys deal with the hot air coming from the fan?
