No Rear Brake Pad

I found this morning that i have no brake pad on my rear passenger side. The others look fine. I can't get it changed till monday probably and I'm wondering what kind of damage can occur to the caliper/rotor if i drive my car much over the weekend.

Now do you mean they're worn down or there's just no pad in the caliper? Cause if there's no pad you're screwed and I have no clue how you've been driving on it without one. If they're just worn down, then you're probably due for new rotors along with it. I wouldn't suggest driving on it at all. But that's me, anything that may damage my vehicle more.

I had the same problem on the same corner. Turned out my caliper seized solid and needed to be replaced along the rotors and pads on both sides cause you can't do just one side...if you're out of warranty you should probably buy some good lube and perhaps start practicing over the weekend taking it up the hooper...it's not cheap, unless you can do the work yourself....

I had checked about a month back and the pad seemed fine. now there's like nothing on only the passenger side. the driver's side is fine. The only reason i looked is because i was getting a grinding noise from the rear last night, so I took a look this morning when it was light out. I do need to drive this weekend, but I don't want to damage anything too bad.

If it's worn right down you'll screw the rotor, if you haven't already....

There's a wholesale parts place in Dartmouth near the McKay bridge, cheap parts!... I cant for the hell of it remember the name of it, its been a while.. its in the industrial park near where Maritime Demolition is, i think, unless they moved. I gotta look into it.. think you should give them a try for parts.

yeah i actually called a shop and gonna get it fixed up tomorrow morning. I just noticed it last night so hopefully it's not messed. I've been trying to just give myself enough time to coast to stops instead of using the brakes lol.

Provided it's just pads and rotors needing to be replaced and not the caliper

Our calipers can be rebuilt. My front passenger caliper was siezed and the shop I went to rebuilt it for me instead of replacing with a new one. Way cheaper in the long run.

Just a thought for you in case that is also an issue.

^ This. Had both my rears rebuilt. Saved a lot of money.

OP, I wouldn't drive at all. You are going to **** up your rotor.

if you heard grinding for sure youll need new rotors..
like its been said above you can either replace the caliper or rebuild it(if needed, wich is higly probable since its only the one side)...OR...you can check to make sure its not a slide pin thats seized....cause that happens quite frequently tooo..(dont know how common on ours tho..)

either way its just about an hour or so of labor alltogether....(or 3 days if you're super mechanically UN-inclined like my dad...lol)

If you have been driving with "No Pad", then the rotor is probably already screwed (and I'm surprised you haven't noticed something wrong when you are stopping. If you have an extremely WORN pad, then you're going to warp the rotor (potentially more than it is already messed up).

Don't drive with bad brakes, they're kind of an important part of any car!
