The other guy still did not want to pay for any of it. The insurance agent told him he was mostly at fault due to making an illegal u-turn and was able to talk him into paying for half of my damages. The insurance would of course cover his damages.

All I would have to pay is the other half of my own damages which I will be doing out of pocket. Much better than going to court over this and trying to get full payment.

I guess I'll be buying the witness some dinner! Thanks again for the replies.
Well it's good to hear your eye witness pulled through. You got off on this accident fairly well for someone with no insurance half the damage out of your own pocket shouldn't be much for how much you'll end up paying for. You're probably best to go get that insurance expiration issue fixed before your good luck runs out.. and go have dinner with your witness haha, drive safely.

Thanks! Yeah, I just got back from getting insurance with a local company, much cheaper too.

Those big name insurance companies treat you like crap. I don't want to say their name but they were extremely rude and just gave me the run around. I was definitely not in good hands

Definitely going to get the witness a Red Lobster gift card or something.

Wow. I am glad everything worked out, especially with no valid insurance.
I hope the damage to your car is not too severe.

good to hear a (mostly) successful resolution.

I suppose the biggest lesson to learn would be to never get some 15min online insurance. They might be cheap, but they will offer terrible coverage, along with terrible customer service.
