I thought this thread was about Tom Petty.

I'm at 80k and have not had any problems. That said, I go by the manual for maintenance (and any tips from otter).

whenever buying a new used car just assume none of the maintenance was done at the recommended intervals and get everything checked

Got my car last may with 55k, i'm at 59k now, and I replaced my brakes, new struts, springs, new tires, timing belt change along with pullies and water pump, and tranny fluid change. Hopefully she lasts me a while with few problems.

You have only put 4k within this last year? At that rate, the car should last a loooooong time.

lol I only drive it between mid April through mid October, and I'm hoping if I keep the miles low, when I'm done with my degree I may go forced induction with it.

lol, sorry...130,000 km about 80,000 miles

i'm at 164,000 or so...put that on in a year...600km almost every week, plus the odd road trip...

since i bough it from a mitsu dealer, and they sold it to me with a valid warranty, i assumed all the required maintenance had been kept on top of...and was looking forward to 168,000km which is the next scheduled timing belt service...it gave out 4,000 km after warranty, and 4,000km before the next scheduled timing belt maintenance...

Same here. Got mine last April at around 54k, around 60k now. Last owner beat the crap out of the car. I had to replace both struts and mounts. One of the mounts were badly bent, must've been driving for a long time with it messed up. I changed the tranny fluid, put in an ingen cai (replaced with some cheap ebay one that caused a cel), new tires, brakes, rotors, rear wheel bearing, and much more. I'm going to change the timing belt and check the motor mounts once i get back from school. I'm also going to drop the tranny to inspect the clutch, since the previous owner said he used to race. I've been having a weird problem where the car shakes violently only in first gear when the clutch is engaged and if i let go of the gas too fast. Never had it break down on me yet, only overheating issues because it was missing a radiator fan.

I just replaced my front struts, upper mounts, and put progress springs on yesterday, and I still have the clicking/binding sound when I turn the wheel either way when I'm sitting still. I thought before I replaced all that when it was doing it, it was my upper mounts, but now that it's replaced I dont know what it is?Anyone else with lowering springs hear like the spring making noise?

Damn, otter, I remember when we were tied for mileage. You'll have to park your car for the next 16 years for me to catch up.
