How do i remove gray part of center console?

i painted most of the trim pieces on my dash and doors and all i have left is the center console top. I only want to paint the top gray half not the bottom black half. Does anyone know how to just take the top half off? If its possible id rather not remove the whole center console.

Ps. i tried prying with a small flat-head but it didnt really do anything.

thanks!

I could be wrong, but I think you have to take out the whole console to get to the clips holding it on from the bottom side

I think you have to take out the whole center console, then remove the top part from the bottom.

The exploded view doesn't show any screws holding it on, only clips; but it goes up under the dash far enough I think it hits the dash before it comes off.

I agree. I believe that you have to undo the console just to take it off. Sucks.

its actually really easy if u didnt do it yet, remove the air knobs on your center console undo the 2 screws pull of, remove 4 screws to head unit unplug and remove, i think theirs 2 screws holding the fake grey Carbon peice and then it all unclips and pulls out then unplug the clock and the 8 screws, u can also remove the screws in the top of your tach area and remove the trim then u can get the main center fake CF peice off and also the other little side one near the window

IIRC it just snaps in and can be removed without removing the rest of the console.

Yeah I just remove the ashtray the shifter knob and pull it out. Then when its off just remove the
connectors to the lighter and it'll come off. easy stuff
