Clutch problem, need help

My clutch pedal went limp the other day and I couldn't change gears. I figured the hydrolic line went out so I drove it to firestone to get it checked out (in 2nd gear the whole way). They told me that the clutch slave cylinder was worn out and leaking. Is this the same thing as the clutch slave modulator that the RRM clutch line bypasses? Firestone wants $600 to fix it and I'm wondering if a $79 part from RRM will fix the problem.

I do believe you are correct.

Thanks, I just talked to the guy at firestone. He is "researching it." He told me that the book shows 4 hours labor and $79 on the slave cylinder. I had to call him out on the labor. It should be a simple job shouldn't it?

The slave cylinder is not the same as the clutch line from rmr. the cylinder itself has 2 bolts holding it on to the bell housing and then you unscrew the clutch line and put the new cylinder on. Bleed the system---really shouldnt take YOU and hr to do even if you never lifted a tool before. 600.00--hell I do it for half that price in my drive way!

Now the labor is 1.7 hours. Everything all together is $271 and all I had to do was everything but stand over them and tell them how to do it! (dumb asses)

The hose is cracked where the line goes into the slave cylinder and both are in bad shape.

Too bad you're in Texas . I don't work on cars. The clutch line from RRM bypasses the slave cylinder is my understanding. It should give the clutch a more firm feel. My thought was to just get rid of the slave cyliner and replace the whole ting with the clutch line.

The SS clutch line from RRM replaces the slave modulator not the slave cylinder. The all in cost of $271 for repairing your slave cylinder is spot on. While your at it you may as well replace the clutch master cylinder with and EVO 8 clutch master cylinder considering your draining the line anyway the EVO 8 CMC is better built and will last longer than OEM. If you ever plan to upgrade you clutch kit to stage 1 or more you will absolutely need an EVO 8 CMC.

The SS line from RRM connects the slave cylinder to the upper nylon clutch line. The slave modulator is designed to assist clutch engagement. Unfortunately the slave modulator prohibites high rpm shifting and over time will cause the clutch disk to slip. I highly recommend instantly the RRM SS clutch line. In addition to this I recommend installing a SS upper clutch line to replace the OEM nylon line. These two minor upgrades will result in a much more responsive clutch feel and engagement.

For any further questions please use the search function. Thanks.

Wish i could have chimed in earlier. You could have easily done this yourself. If it was the container in the line then all you needed was the bypass line. 30 min fix an whatever RRM charges for the line.

agree, 30 minute job

disagree, RRM clutch line...a stainless steel line can be made/purchased for less, most likely locally so shipping wouldn't be an issue, i'm working something out, i'll let people know when it's done.

i have been having the same problem, my master cylinder has been going due to the excess pressure from the ACT stage 1 clutch.

i have been on this new clutch for about 8 months now, the OME master cylinder just starting acting up in the last month, untill i find the evo master to change it out i have been checking the OEM fluid levels to jsut keep it topped up, once it drops to low i dont have pressure anymore on my clutch pedal
