2006_RA and myself did the lapping event last evening. Was a lot of fun and good cameraderie as always. George decided to explore the outer edges of traction in the dirt a few times - ah, those Goodyear slicks. That's the beauty of Shannonville, you can try stuff and overcook without worrying too much due to the awesome run-off areas (although an M3 pilot with his girlfriend riding shotgun overcooked the final corner into a deep swampy area and had to get towed away). There were I think three new gen Lancers and an Evo X plus our RA's for a nice Mitsubishi representation.

I'll be doing this Friday's mix n' match as far as I can tell right now, Crans.

sounds good...I'm on duty this weekend, and I get a day back for it, so I'm going to try to take Friday off instead of Monday...

We went to Shannonville last Monday and had a blast.
Saying I explored the outer limits is putting it mildly, I made Brent's excursions look amateurish !!!
It was very exciting all around, I cant wait to go back, with decent tyres on, it will only be better.

yeah man, as soon as it dried up I was on the road, and it was cool they let me take Curtis on the track, he started crying when I told him he couldn't come, and then my dad feelings we're hurt, so I was fully prepared to just gop and spectate with him, but at the front gate the ladies let him have a passenger band, so I paid to play! he was flipping out, lol, I was trying to toss him around a bit to break him in, lol...my tires don't like the rain, though it would have been good practice...I think the 1/4mile track was no prepped well, if at all, cause Paul could barely get in the 11's and that's a 10 second car...he was telling me that he couldn't hook up at all through 2 gears either, he's got a little over double my horsepower, through a modified AWD system on Z1 star spec. same problem as me on a larger scale. I was not hitting full boost fro whatever reason. could be the wastegate or boost control, cause it spikes to where it should be set, but drops off quite a bit, but I've been adding timing back to my ignition map, cause I retarded it too much in a few places, so really I should maybe making more power that last year, I mean if the boost will hold. Everyone I talked to was running a second slower on unchanged or even improved setups...I Think I need to open up the exhaust, maybe even a larger turbo...but i'll check for boost leaks first

I'm gonna go tomorrow evening, its the full track (no drag racing) to try the new tires.

Hey Crans, there's a guy on Kijiji in Oshawa selling two 16" Hoosier slicks mounted on 4 bolt wheels, used for one outing (he claims), all for $100. I'll pick'em up if he still has them, just for the slicks. I can resell the rims and you can have the tires for the difference.

my steelies are 15's, I wouldn't have wheels to put them on...I would like to have another set of slicks when I run water/meth and 14psi I'm likely going to buy another wastegate actuator...the manual boost controller is getting a little flakey I think, I'm almost maxing it out (increases by 5 psi), and it doesn't seem very stable, and it's cheaper than electronic control. there are some other issues I'm thinking about, and a manifold re-design and 2.5" cat-back I think would ease things up a bit...also a larger turbo. with a bigger turbo, I can make more power with less boost, and less heat, but I don't want it to be too laggy, as I want it to build boost quickly...

I'm going to try the touge.ca Sunday June 29 track evening at Shannonville, 6-9 pm. It's the full track, lapping with other cars, not individually staggered like the mix 'n match sessions. I'll report back on the experience with these guys, and how the Federal RSR tires hold up.

btw, I'll be starting the crank oil scraper project immediately after that, will post pics and results.

Touge.ca

The lapping evening went very well. There were about 25 cars, the event was professionally organized and nicely laid back. Full paddock, lots of girlfriends and well-wishers taking pics and milling about. Everything from clapped out Civics to a new McLaren. Mitsu represented by a few Lancers, no evos though.

Highly recommend this. Great bang for the buck.
