So it doesn't look good as of today looks like there going to make me a offer of just over $9K plus taxes so looks like ill be walking away from this car at the present moment. Insurance says around $4K for a buy back so in total ill get $5K plus a salvage title. No Thanks. Pretty Sad going 10kmh and written off OUCH
Body shops don't look for prices like that they jump on the computer and punch in part numbers and if it says 1K then it's 1K. Im sure if i dont go threw insurance and ask them to do that they would have no problems but thats not the case here. It's what you see is what you get.
Then you need to shop around if your body shop only knows the Mitsubishi dealer..
Who do you think are the main customers of mypartshop.com and carparts.com ?
Body shops.
The sites are used mostly by people rebuilding cars.
Anyway, I have shown that it would not cost $9000 for the parts.
Knowledge is power, do what you will with it.
Do you know what a front end assembly is ?

Well dealing with the insurance company as all things in life, you can be active or passive.
I posted the sites because you initially said you may keep the car as a project car implying repairing it yourself, and also that the parts alone cost $9000.
Regardless, even if you were repairing the car via the insurance company, and said to them I found the parts for more than $6000 less, I do not see the claims adjuster hanging up when you phone with that news.

If i buy the car back i won't get 9K plus my taxes so a total of 10.5K why would i want to buy the car back and only receive 5K when i owe 9K on the car. That would'nt make sense.
Well someone had said in the first post that "Not that the frame is bent or twisted but the parts in total are $9,000 BIG ONES."
I can see how it would get there especially with Canadian Stealership prices.
He said that the radiator was against the head if I recollect correctly.
The body shops tend not to effect repairs anymore so everything that has a scratch will be replaced. On top of that, if the airbag and seat belt went off they will be replaced and the SRS control module will need to be fiddled with or replaced too.
Roblaza got quoted $600 plus for painting a front bumper so that's going to up the price too.
Do not forget also that body shops quote insurance companies differently (ie higher) than they do for an individual.
The affordable way would be buy a front end, negotiate the labour and paint at the body shop then sell the bits that are left over.
