Ive read a thread about it, but 5w-30 or 10w-30
Yeah, except the engineers aren't the ones making the call. 5w-20 serves one purpose - keeping the EPA happy. 5w-20 is a pretty lightweight oil that offers a minor increase in efficiency in exchange for not protecting moving parts quite as well. 5w-30 will do a better job of protecting. 10w-30 is handy for warmer climates but not necessary for most any modern stock engine.
I've always used 30, actually just changed mine and picked up 20 on accident but instead of just using it I returned it for the 30. I'd just go with the 30 and never look back lol
^ THIS. The mods have seen the oil question a million times. They know what Mitsubishi recommends. There isn't a huge difference between 5w20 and 5w30 too, so I wouldn't sweat it.
5w-20 and 5w-30 both have the same "cold cranking" viscosity/temperature range but the 30weight at operating temperature will protect more against wear than a 20weight, period.
It will depend a lot on your climate and engine operating temperature. Remember oil thins out at higher temperatures. Like Otter said many companies are compromising to meet MPG and EPA standards by just pushing to use an oil weight.
