More pick up on 06 Ralliart

Ok so I have a 06 Ralliart just bought it last wkend, its fast as hell already(compared to my sunfire lmfao) top speed is great, but. Was wondering what can I add to it for more pick up/torque?? It's an automatic 2.4L , I was wondering if I add a after market intake and also if I placed a fan Inside the intake hose for pulling more air into my engine, it can be a powered fan or one of those orher tpw fans that are manual and spin as u rev the engine? would that give it a little bit more pick up? If not what else can I add to it, without spending lots and lots of money? It already has a beast of exhaust on it sounds so sexy, but yea can anyone help? Thanks guys

Do not put a fan in your air intake... very bad idea. Check out www.roadracemotorsports.com for parts for your car

Bad idea. This will cause serious damage to your car.

I would recommend grabbing your preferred thing to drink and sit to browse around the RA forums. Any question you could have probably has been made and answered already and there's a lot of details from the RA community here.

But just to help you out...

Cold Air Intake
flexpipe
Underdrive pulley

Dont go running to RRM(not a lot of bang for buck) or ebay(quality issues). Think about what you want to do, hows your mechanical aptitude toward cars and since yours is an used RA don't put mods over maintenance...ever

No no no. You want to save money? Then listen up, soldier.

The stock air filter is fine, it causes minimal flow restriction. The problem is the intake pipe, that snorkel from the radiator to the airbox. Add another extra pipe to bring in more air to the stock airbox to increase airflow to the engine when it wants more - there is a how-to posted.

Get the squashed pipe section of the exhaust replaced, and add a freer flowing muffler - guys have posted pictures showing this. Stay with stock catcon if you don't want CEL's.

Get a hackish reflash to make the ECU accept these free-breathing cheapish mods.

Then you will feel a difference.

No offense bro but I'd trust a spectre cone filter from autozone before id go buying some knockoff from ebay. Plus the fan thing is a hoax it doesnt really help anything, in fact it would probably restrict more air than it would help. The whole idea of making the air spin sounds good until you actually get to studying it. First of its an NA engine, so there isnt enough force in the intake to actually benefit from the fan or the "spinning air" concept. Then if your still using the stock flex pipe that just creates disruption killing any sort of "spinning" because of all the notches in the pipe. Lastly the intake isnt long enough for it to matter and once the air hits the diaphram of your intake manifold its just going to become a bubble of air nothing spins it just gets sucked into the pipes. Now if it was on a turbo car where air is being forces through the pipes and there is a lot of straight pipe then there may be a tiny benefit but it wouldnt be much. Bottom line, forget the fan, waste of money. I studied it back when I first got my RA.

Like $MIVEC$ said. Sit back and read anything you can find on these forums before doing anything else. Then figure out what your final goal for your car is first because that will ultimately save your from wasting time and money. Focus on maintenance first too. Make sure everything is caught up and working. Worst thing is ordering an upgrade and finding 5 other things that need to be fixed.

Anyway welcome to the forum and good luck with your car!

Yeah, it sure seems that the level of newbs is reaching staggering hieghts...lol

Have a look around the site. There is lots of info on the boards concerning mods and diy's...save your money and do not waste it on RRM stuff. Although some of their products may work well, they are way overpriced. Don't jump into anything before having a look around...

And maybe many RA owners are selling and moving on? (This might be in my near future as well).

solid mounts, reflash, and RalliartN's intake mod...from there i would recommend suspension and handling mods...underdrive pulley, exhaust and intake flow mods are optional.

having an exposed air filter in the engine bay just sucks hot air into the intake...I have an AEM short ram intake, and it kinda sucks, i did end up using it as a turbo intake, for which it works very well...

nothing that bolts on will make a huge difference in pick up...$1,000 for exhaust is crazy...what diameter is the pipe? cause if it's bigger than 2.25" you made the car slower

just a muffler would normally cover the sound you are seeking...and those are anywhere from $40-140 for the muffler and a nice tip.
