what i was thinking was maybe you could turn it into a compartment FOR NOW then maybe later on, you can turn it into a popout console of some sort. or you can use it as an Android tablet holder and hook up TORQUE PRO on it. these are just my thoughts

Well...I was in the process of making sort of a platform to go in there...I had it all mocked up and a template in place, but my plans of velcro'n my GPS to it wasnt really going to work with the way the OEM radio surround is shaped, so unfortunately i'm back to the drawing board...
