If/Maybe/Potentially/Possibly/And/Or/End
Hey all,
I haven't been too active on the forums this summer due being super busy, but now it seems that my journey with my 06 RA has ended. At the beginning of this week I was in a head on collision (well front corner with my front middle) and it seems that my RA will more then likely be written off. I won't give any details or photos just yet due to the circumstances, but, and I'm not sure how it all works with insurance, if my vehicle is written off, I may be able to part it out a bit. If I am able to get some parts off it then I will post up a price list and go from there; if you have a particular part, that is not to difficult to get at, then just comment below and I'll see what I can do.
Matt

Whoa. Very sorry to hear this. Are you okay?
Don't be shy about showing your insurance adjuster some of the upgrades/mods you added (with receipts if you can) and then ask for a little more settlement money because it would cost you more to replace these things, which is what the insurance adjuster is doing when he/she values your loss. These folks are pretty reasonable and the guy/gal just needs something to put in your folder so their boss is okay with the extra $ you get.
Considering your parts offer, we'll pick the bones later when you give us update status on the remains.

I'm not bad; a burn from the airbag on my left arm, bruised shoulder from the seatbelt, but what is the worst is my back. I am finding it uncomfortable to sit down, as well as trying to get comfortable in bed to sleep. It is my lower spine (right in the arch of my back), I am hoping that a few adjustments from a chiropractor will help. I already told my doctor about my back but he said take a few Tylenol and see if it gets better; so far, no.
As for the car, it's been better.
All in all a decent crash, especially for my first. I have no blemishes on my driving record at all so this is all new to me.
Once the case kind of clears up a bit I will begin to explain the scenario and post some photos of the car.
As for the car, it's been better.
- Airbag
- Hood
- Both Fenders
- Radiator and Supports
- Bumper Cover, Bumper Reinforcement, and Core
- Fog Lights
- Both Headlights
- Top Front Crossmember (Rad Support) is pushed onto my headers and alternator.
- Battery and Tray
- Airbox and Snorkel
- I guess something for twisted because my truck don't shut properly.
- I am unsure of any damage underneath, but there is, more then likely, something.
- Serpentine Belt is off

Ouch, I'm very sorry to hear this. I only had one accident in my entire driving history also, sadly it was with my ralliart too
Just take it one day at a time, you can get another car ,take care of your body first. Allowing your body to heal correctly is critical to a healthy recovery. Get another opinion doctors miss things probably more than they catch them.

Ouch man. That sucks. Glad to see your doing decent. Back issues arent something to take lightly. Id definitely see a chiropractor soon, doctor's answers to everything is always more meds and pills to screw you up in the long run...

Yea, like I said earlier, I have been the doctor before but that was basically to get it documented. I will be going back soon for another check to say it hasn't been getting better and maybe request an x-ray to check for alignment issues. I don't believe in suing the other person for everything they are worth, even though she was driving in an oncoming turning lane when she hit me, but I do believe in good health. So if it takes her insurance company a load of money to get me back to where I was, then that is what it takes. I just hope nothing dumb happens like my injuries getting overlooked, because being uncomfortable all the time isn't something I would wish on someone.

Time to begin my search for a new vehicle it seems. I got a call from my adjuster earlier this week with the grand total of damage done to my RA. $13,700. They valued my vehicle at $8300 so I will be getting a cheque soon with that amount, minus my deductible of $1000. If I win this case, which I should, I will receive a cheque for the deductible at a later date.
I think I will be looking for a 04-05 WRX or something. I have always loved Subaru's and they are great in the winter, but who knows what I will be getting. Any recommendations?

hope ur ok...sad to hear about the crash...
(u might need this)..lol
i know how it is about the back/uncomfortable issues...my wife was in an accident a few years ago(she slowed down to turn into a gas station, the idiot behind her didin't because she was talking on the phone...till the other driver's week old suv ended up in my wife's trunk, the proceeded to blame my wife for slowing down) now she's got a numb spot in her thigh with no useful treatment yet, and back pains from the crash...then about 2 years later we were driving to get her new(er) car fixed(vibration and alignment issues, and new tires), when a guy rear ended us on the freeway trying to get around a "slow" suv....he also ended up in my wife's trunk and our front seats twisted from the impact(instead of going down evenly like theyre supposed to, they went down crooked) and now we both have back pains(her more so since she was already damaged)...
anyway hope it all works out...hope u stay in the car scene wether it's a RA, evo, subaru or w/e u get...if it was me i'd ponder between a mazda speed3, scion tc, evo or wrx/sti...maybe some other cars too but i cant think of any rt now)
good luck tho

I don't exactly have much money at the moment because I am leaving tonight for Florida so roughly all my funds went to that.
I would die for an Evo 8/9 but shipping/driving it back to Newfoundland is brutally expensive; something I don't have the funds for because I need a car fairly quickly due to school. The likely hood of me actually getting a WRX is slim because there aren't to many here. If I can find one in the Maritimes or even Ontario I may ship it back, or drive it, but like I said, expensive.
I have no clue what the outcome is going to be, I just hope it's something decent.
