Wierd Electrical/Issues

Wierd Electrical/Issues
So my car died unexpectedly yesterday. While leaving my parents house and pulling onto the road, my car just died. Was going maybe 5-10mph and accelerating and the car just dies. Go to restart and the car cranks but will not start.
Push the car off the road and do a quick check. Timing belt was fine (only 6 months old). Car has 64k on the clock. Battery was a little low and eventually wouldn't crank. I figured I had a bad battery so picked up a spare battery from my parents house since we were visiting them. Car cranked better now but still wouldn't fire.
I have a scangauge II attached in the car and when I went to check for codes, the think wouldn't link up to the ECU.
I got the car towed to my mechanic. He called this morning and said after checking fuses, relays, they can't find the problem. He said the ECU has power, but that the line to the Fuel pump is dead. The fuel pump isn't getting any signal from the ECU. They also couldn't get any scanner to connect to the ECU to check for codes.
So now my car is off to the dealership to get checked out. Fuh!!!!
Anyone have any ideas or had something similar happen? My car is pristine. I am up to date on all maintenance. It seems like a fluke problem?

Have your mechanic check if the fuel pump relay is clicking/getting power before you spend any real money at the dealer.. Spark and fuel are two reasons why a engine won't fire if you have spark than there must not be fuel if you have fuel than you must not have spark if you have both than timing but that's not the case here since the comp adjust timing and the belt is fine. Check wires/connector at the maf.. How did he check to see if the pump was getting power? if you know...

The problem is the ecu will not connect up with any scanning devices from the port underneath the steering wheel. It is like the ecu is down and non responsive. I don't think the fuel pump could cause that.

All dash lights come on as normal. All signals, lights, radio, door locks work. Unfortunately it is at the dealership now to see if they can locate the problem. I will likely have the dealer diagnose the problem and then have AAA tow it back to my mechanic for the actual work.
